Come on Jmeyer1292, have you ever tried to get a Class III H&K weapon repaired as a civilian? I guess you, as an employee, will not have the same problems as we Non-LE, Non-Military types have with their customer service. H&K is driven by the want of military and LE contracts. They get a lot of their handguns to police by selling through civilian markets. Do you guys offer a LE discount for individual purchase? If I send you a request on letterhead will you give me a discount, as Glock does? I sold my MP-5 because the thing was hard to get repaired (I also made a few bucks, thanks for the cool advertising you guys do, the public thinks that you have the best product out there, LMAO).

+1 for what GunTech said. Tell your socialist bosses in the fatherland to get a clue. The Americans that would purchase that product are not the gang banging thugs Europeans think we are.

Beyond marketing, I dont know what Hk does better than any other quality gun company out there. This combined with the "holier than thou" attitude they seemed to have adopted with their civilian sales means that you wont find an Hk in my safe anytime soon (the $300-$500 price difference doesnt help either).

Pardon the pun, but Hk has really shot themselves in the foot with me and a lot of other shooters.

If I want ubertactical weaponry, make mine an FN, please...

well, ive only ever heard good things about HK, so thats ok...

and you all do seem rather hostile towards HK, like its on principle :p

No RLsnow, it's experience + principle = current attitude.

(I still own an H&K product, a USP compact .45. It has served me well, I just don't intend to purchase any more)

RLsnow, I am not denying that Hk makes fantastic products... but so do a bunch of other companies. As icing on the cake, most of those companies fantastic products cost a good bit less.

Because of this, I see no reason to support an arrogant, "our guns never break so we dont need a service department" type company.

I feel similarly to Colt... though not quite as harshly.

My only real issue with HK is that I think they're overhyped. They make good, reliable and functional weapons, but they're not the be all, end all of firearms design. To be fair, though, I have the same problem with people who want to talk about "Glock perfection" or the genius of John Moses Browning and everything else -- again, good or even excellent weapons, but with flaws and downsides to go with the pluses.

HK has poured a bunch of money on small arms development that have gone nowhere (can you say XM8? OICW)

A bunch of money was poured into those projects; but I think Uncle Sam did most of the pouring. I think the only commitment H&K made was to build a U.S. factory IF those projects actually went anywhere.

H&K seem to be more interesting in really large orders by a single organisation than lots of small orders with different features and they never denied that. Now if you were wanting to purchase say 100000 of them they might be interested.

Good thing that, with few exceptions, I think HK is over-rated, over-priced, and couldn't care less!

SIG isn't perfect, but they do try hard to cater to the civvie market and I'd be much happier with my dollars going toward a 556.
