In your opinion, what is a fair price for a LNIB Glock 19 (Gen 3) that has under 50 rounds down the pipe? My local gun shop sells new Glock 19 Gen 3 pistols for $499.99, but I have a potential FTF transaction on a LNIB used 19.

What would you offer knowing you can get a brand new one for 499.99?

I'd offer $400 to start, but would be willing to go up to $450. The one at the LGS will be about $535 after tax so $450 LNIB is worth it to me.

#2. On an almost new Glock there's really no incentive by the seller to drop the price that much because a used Glock is still reliable (especially one that supposedly has only 50 rounds down range). I say $450 would be a good deal, especially considering the tax break. If you can get it for $400 go for it, but starting with an offer of $350 is almost insultingly low imo.

$350 to $400. Remind him that if he were to trade it in to a gun shop they might only give him $250 to $300.

If it's like NIB, with the box and all the original items, then it's worth $450. I would have to get $450 for mine. If it's not worth that much to a potential buyer, then let them go buy a new one. It's their money.

The OP didn't mention a trade in, at the LGS, or selling to a LGS. But, I would rather the LGS screw me, than a so called friend. At least I know the LGS is in business to make a profit.

I try not to buy things on impulse or like I needed it and since I have actually bought Glocks for $350 OTD I would make a similar offer and probably let it walk if it goes over $400 unless it was really LNIB and had night sights or additional mags, holster, or something then I might go $425. They aren't hard to find for $450.

I recently picked up a LNIB Gen3 19 for $460. Not a killer deal by any means but I thought it was fair to both myself and the seller. Considering taxes, etc it probably saved me around $75 -$100.

Not sure about your area, but I can buy a brand new G19 for just under $500 locally, so there is no incentive to me for buying a used gun without a significant discount over that. To me, that means $400 tops which makes $350 a very reasonable first offer.

I would consider a request from the seller of $450 for such a gun insultingly high. ;)

That sounds like a shotgun that was advertised at DCWC as unfired. We all got a laugh out of that one. What skeet shooter can hold a shotgun over 5 minutes without shooting a round or two with it? Ask me to watch your gun - I will watch it as I try it out for round of skeet.

I would ask the seller why does he want to sell the gun. If he is strapped for cash I would lowball him. If he didn't like the gun I would pass. All gun manufacturers have lemons.

The problem is it is retail for private seller. Retail prices are higher but most gun stores will not offer you much because of the need to turn a profit obviously.

Anywhere from $350 to a max of $430 is a good bargain. A lot of people offload firearms at a lower rate when they are in a hurry to sell. It is always a buyers market when there is always a surplus available stock.

Prices vary by region, around here you can find used gen 3 glocks listed in the local classified for $450 pretty regularly. If you are a little patient and keep an eye out you they pop up regularly enough for $400 that you can get one at that price without waiting too long.

If I could get a new one for $500 (+ taxes I assume), what I would pay for a used one would vary a lot by the condition. Personally I wont pay more than $400 for a used glock. They are too easy to find, and in rather good shape, at that price.

I decided several years ago that I'd never buy another Glock, new or used, from a dealer...just too man good deals to be had in private sales, ftf, no sales taxe, etc.
