I'm looking to buy a Glock 19 (it'll be my first Glock). I found a used Gen3 locally. It looks decent but I'm not real Glock savvy. Asking price is $469. Is this a reasonable price and should I be afraid of a used Glock?
Yes, that is a reasonable price. However, I wouldn't pay more than $525 for a new glock, and I would gladly pay the extra $55 more dollars for a brand new one. No, I wouldn't be afraid of a used glock though. I am willing to bet that it would be extremely reliable.
If you qualify and can find a participating dealer the Blue Label Glock is right at $419.00 less tax. It comes with a third mag as well.
I shoot for -$375 OTD for used Glocks.
There are a few differences... I'm not so sure that I'd call them improvements. If I had the fundage to buy a glock tomorrow, I'd get a gen 3. That's just me.
Used Gen 3 Glock 19s are listed at 475 around here, and new ones are 499 plus tax, or about 540. Personally, I'd spend the extra 65 bucks for a new one, but I guess the bottom line is the most important thing for some people.
Unless it comes with worthwhile upgrades or extras (e.g., night sights, extra magazines, a quantity of ammunition), for another $40 you can get a new one.
I just bought two new glocks at a gun show for $430 each out the door. One was a g17 Gen 4 and the other was a G22 RTF. Keep looking for a better price, I don't think $469 is a good price IMHO.
Well, to get the blue label guns you have to be active military, law enforcement, firefighter, ems etc. That said, since new glocks for those people are 399 with 3 mags, I would offer the seller 399 for that one. Its not that good of a deal at 470 etc. I love the glock platform, and honestly if I had the choice atleast in the 9s I'd go with the gen 3 over the gen 4s. I own several of each, and I really like the gen 3 on the 9s much more. The trigger is different, and I dont care who wants to argue that point. Its about 1 lbs heavier on the 4. Get out a scale and measure it if you dont believe me. Breaks right about 6.4 lbs on mine. Where the 3 breaks at 5.5. The only mods I made to my gen 3s was put a lone wolf extended mag release on them and round the edge a tad. I'm not dissapointed in my gen 4 weapons. Its a good weapon though. But I dont think i'd pay over 420 dollars out the door for most glocks. Especially since civillian models atleast in Oregon are 499 new. I seen a earth colored frame 19 today for 500 even. Was pretty cool lookin. If they wont come down go else where. Police trade ins are usualy 389. Look for one of them.
