used Kahr CW9

Hey all, I was at the LGS stocking up on ammo and they had a used Kahr CW9 in what looks to be VG to Excellent condition + 2 extra extended mags (3 total) and a Pachmyer grip sleeve for $350. I have been wanting something like this or an LC9 for a while now, but was leaning towards a Kahr. How's this price seem to you guys? I figured the extra 2 mags and sleeve were probably worth about $50 so I was essentially paying about $300 for the gun. Be curious to know what others have paid for used ones.

Seems like a fair price. Mags run about $25-30 and you can find the gun new for about $370 with one mag. I don't think it is a rip off IMO.

Just took it apart to inspect/clean. Doesn't look like it's been fired much at all. I'd call it LNIB.

Since you really don't know for sure how many rounds have been fired through it, I'd recommend replacing the recoil spring with a new FACTORY weight spring, just on general principles.

The CW9 is perfect for what it is meant to do (CC) and unexpectedly great altogether (pleasant to shoot at the range, accurate). Its fit n' finish is well above its price range. Only catch that I can tell, is mags are expensive.

But you seem to have gotten past that problem... I would snag it in a second.

I bought one used (LNIB) late last year with an extra mag for $360 and I think I got a fair deal.

IMO, at least for me, it is a perfect warm weather CCW. I don't know if I could be happier with mine. It's my constant companion.

You better snag that one for I am looking for a second CW9 and if I am in that part of the state I will snatch it up!

The new price for a CW9 is $350, but only comes with one mag. As Stringfellow said, though, Kahr mags are on the pricy side, so that doesn't sound like a bad deal if it is in near-new condition.

If those two were my choices I would lean so far toward the Kahr as to tip over. Some negotiation skills may lower it a tad more yet but I'd make the leap at $350.

I will probably be the only one on here that has had any issues but..... I will NEVER EVER buy another Kahr due to their CW series.

I bought a CW45 after fondling one at a LGS, loved loved LOVED the feel of the gun. After buying it I read up on the "break in" period and proceeded to do so. The first box of ammo ran through without a hitch, 2nd had 2 FTF 3 had 10ftf and the last one was a battle to just get through the 50rds. After getting the gun back it still had the same issues with FTF and FTE so I sold the gun and told the new owner of the problems before he bought it. 3 weeks later he told me he sold it because he couldnt get a box of ammo through the thing.


I shot Wolf, Federal, winchester and remington through the gun and the thing would FTE and FTF every other shot. Kahr told me ship the gun back to them (on my own dime) and they would fix the problem.

Then since I was dumb and didnt learn from my first mistake I went and bought a CW9. The FTF wasnt as bad as the 45 but I had 10 total out of 200rds and the slide would not go into battery without me pushing on the back of it with my thumb EVERY shot.


I hope you have no problems with yours since they are great feeling guns and are perfectly sized.

Excellent advice. The recoil springs cost only about $8

That's a better price than what I have seen. Pawn shop ( I know ) want's $429 used with one magazine. I am not even sure if the box comes with it or not. I been looking at the .40 version or even the .45 but never went for it. Seems like a fair price overall.

Will do on the recoil springs. Thanks for suggestion. I plan to take it to the range this week to see how it fires. This is 1st gun ever bought used so have my fears that it's one with problems that someone got rid of, but appears to be like new. I checked the ser# and it was made in 2005, I think same year they came out or close to it. Looks to me like someone bought and kept in a safe. Have my doubts if it's even had the 200 rd. break-in through it yet. Anyone know of any serious issues to the early ones?

Great little pistol and good price.Clean it up,lube it and shoot it 200 break in rounds just as if it were a new gun. You will be happy.tom.

I love both my CW9 and CM9. They have been reliable and surprisingly accurate for their size. I had a CW45 that was a good gun also. I didn't want to let it go but I was lusting after another 1911.

If I like the CW9 as much as I think I will, may have to sell my SW 642 and get the CM9. I can't see myself carrying the 642 much anymore as I prefer the added rounds and really don't shot it as good as my semiauto's.

Just took her to the range. Great gun. Put down 150rds and no issues. Love the way it feels and is very accurate. I really like the bar-dot sights. Also, the trigger to me did not seem that long. I'd be really surprised if it was 3/8" pull. I don't know if it maybe had a trigger job done to it or what, but it seemed pretty crisp ( not so crisp though that I'd consider it unsafe). I'm not though one overly concerned with trigger lengths though as long as it's not what I consider to hard to keep on target without pulling really really slow (i.e. the KT P11 I sold. Hated it!) Anyways, this will definitely be my warm weather carry gun. Now I know I got a really good deal for $350.
