USFA Rodeo. Want to get it refinished

Yes I had a little paragraph denoting the size difference. I will go back and make it red.

My reference was in relation to the 2005 vote at the NCOWs convention to NOT add the Rodeo to the approved firearms list. A list which includes Rugers which are in no way similar to a vintage western firearm. A decision, supposedly based upon the matte blue finish. I am tempted to pull more guns out of my safes to see if the cylinders will still interchange, but that would only derail the original post even further off track.

Well, Nutmeg Sports told me it would be 12-16 weeks. They finished the work in one week. Should have it here by Saturday.

Got my USFA Rodeo back today. Crazy fast turnaround. Nutmeg did a flawless job and did it fast. I like this gun so much more than I did before. That matte blue finish really took away from the quality of the gun.

I paid $1000 for shipping, Ivory grips and Nickel. The nickel was $350 of it.

Definitely beautiful. You have some fine single actions!

Yeah, my tastes have evolved ( or devolved ) quite a bit over the years . I now own one double action revolver for carry and no semiauto centerfire handguns. The rest are single actions. I see guns more as recreational and decorations rather than tools and the single actions fit the bill quite well for that .

I can understand that. With my climb into bullseye shooting I now only own two kinds of guns, bullseye competition guns and concealed carry guns. That's pretty much it.

Damn ... that Rodeo looks really good! This thread is making me regret selling my two Rodeos. I bought a pair or sequentially numbered Rodeos from LongHunter about seven years ago. They came with all of his excellent upgrades and I think I paid $595 a piece. I sold them a couple of years ago. I bought them to shoot SASS matches but after getting into USPSA instead decided that I didn't have much use for .45 colt revolvers limited to 14.5 ksi. I have a pair of sequentially numbered Ruger Bisley Blackhawks in .45 Colt/.45 ACP which feel much better in my hands and will be keeping those so it's not all bad.

In the case of the Colt SAA the street price will be much higher than MSRP as they aren't producing them in numbers enough to cover demand. There is a lengthy wait.

+1. Up until now the newer Colt SAA were never really an 'investment gun' but that may be changing. I just picked up a used 3rd Generation Colt SAA for $1,100 + tax and was glad to pay that. A much better gun than my Uberti El Patron, just feels more solid, the El Patron's screws kept backing out, and it had an issue with empties getting stuck in a couple cylinders. Before that I had a antiqued Uberti Cattleman, that one literally shot itself to pieces after a few hundred rounds. They must have antiqued it a bit too much.

That's the best looking Rodeo I've ever seen. Great job and well worth the price.
Looks almost too pretty to shoot............almost. :)

Oh it shoots great and cleans up easy. Cleans up a lot easier than my Colts, one of which is heading out for fresh nickel too. I put a reduced power trigger and main spring kit in it today. Looking forward to the weekend.

Took the words right out of my mouth!

Gorgeous, yugorpk.

I like this one after the refinish I bought a consecutive number set of 2003 vintage Rodeo's today for $1500 delivered to my dealer which is a crazy good deal in this market. I'm thinking they'll get a polish and blue job like the USFA Cowboy guns.

Looking forward to seeing the "Twins" in their new polished blued finish! Got any plans for new grips as well?

Havent decided on grips yet. I have a couple of guns out now having grips made ( Thanks lovely wife ) . One in Rams horn and one in Giraffe bone. Ive got black water buffalo horn , ivory etc. I may end up trying some American Holly or something more exotic in one piece wood. Ive got some OLD walnut stump wood laying around but I'm not a huge fan of brown.

What I'd really like now that I think of it is some ebony with inlaid silver or abalone but the design is something I'd have to think a lot about. One reason why Ive never gotten a tattoo ( other than the fact they really only belong on prostitutes, sailors and convicts ) is that it would have to be something I'd want to live with forever.
