Well, I finally purchased my pistol. A CZ 83 in .380, and I gotta say it fits me perfectly and feels well too. Now comes the hard part, loading the magazines with one hand. After doing all my research into comfort, feel, both shooting and concealed carry, expected recoil, cost, and ease of cleaning I never took into account that I'd have to load the magazines by hand.
Now to my question. Is there a product out there that fella with one paw can use to load these double stack mags? I purchased a speed loader from CZ and found it to be useless. Just don't have enough hands. And the same for finger loading. In a span of 45 minutes, I was able to load (1) round and scratch the h@#l out of three others.
I appreciate any and or all ideas.

Drill hole through both sides of magazine about 3/4 from top.

Make tool to depress mag follower to bottom of mag.

Insert nail through holes to retain mag follower at bottom of mag.

Withdraw the tool that you used to depress the follower.

Follower is now "locked" at the bottom.

Drop rounds in mag.

Remove nail free the follower.

Mag is now loaded.

I too use the Maglula reloader but thinking about using it one-handed gave me a headache. So I asked my wife, the brains of the family, if she could imagine using a reloader one-handed. She thought that maybe using knees to hold the magazine, hand to compress reloader, knees to hold both compressed, hand to load round, release, repeat. We have not tried this but it sounds plausible, in theory.

stand the mag up on a table, put the loader over it, grab a round with yourthumb and index fingers, squeeze the loader and pull down while placing the round in the mag, release and lift. its very easy once you practice. takes me about 30 seconds to load both 14rnd .40 mags, so 28rnds in 30 seconds or so isn't too bad.

You can do this with a 15 degree+- mag with ONLY one hand? Please understand, my left side is COMPLETELY paralyzed, and my right doesn't have the dexterity of a 20 year old.

GLOOB - That was an AWESOME idea. And I really appreciated the instructional video. It's simple and fairly easy with a little work. Went to the Longview gun show today and was speaking with a vendor out there that convinced me to buy the UpLULA speed loader by showing me the simplicity of design. After a little practice and some manipulation with a table vise, I got all four mags loaded

Once again, thank you to all for the help

GLOOB, the "pull in" method is how I load mags too, and I think you've got the best no-extra-hardware-needed method there.

It would work on my CZ82 (in 9x18mak), no reason it wouldn't work on a CZ83 in .380acp.

GLOOB's vid is awesome.

I noticed one minor awkwardity(is that a word?) The table is too high and forces the reloading hand to bend down too far. you could either use a lower table, or even better, mount your boolit holder on a forward leaning angle at the front edge of the table.

Nice video, GLOOB. I thought I was the only one who loaded pistol magazines that way. I think it's more stable and requires less energy.

I know it's already been said, but well done, GLOOB. It's always great to see people on these forum doing their best to be helpful and avoid the bickering/trolling you run into elsewhere.

GLOOB, many kudos to you for taking the time to think of that solution and to make a video by way of explanation. You and people like you are the reason THR is a cut above. Respect. :)

Could you provide pictures or a description of how to use an Uplula onehanded?
I have a local guy who needs the technique.

I don't have any pics, yet, might next week some time but, I'll try and describe the process. Kinda hard to take pics of yourself doing something with one hand with the only good hand ya got. :) I do this mostly by rote anymore so let my try this in an as I go form.

EMPTY clip

Stand clip up on flat surface or a vise/wedge, being sure thee loader can travel FULL length of magazine

slide loader over

with ring finger and almost heal of palm and middle finger - squeeze loader/scissor together and press down

with bullet between thumb and forefinger slide in place in a "pull" fashion to load round

release scissor allowing to ride up

repeat as necessary

He'll have to figure out for himself exactly how to hold the round to be loaded as it often does NOT go according to plan the first time. It often slips on loading, or you just plain miss. As you really are doing this backwards.

If ya'll are anywhere near East Texas, I'd be more than happy to help the guy out and show him how to do this. Or help in whatever way I can.
