Using pulled bullets

I was given about 700 .45 230gr. plated round nose bullets. They have what appears to have a slight crimp grove on them about .340" above the base. I have never seen a grove like this on new bullets ant I thnik that maybe they were pulled from cases that had a slight roll crimp. Please look at the picture and tell me what you think if you would used them (plinking) or not. There does not appear to be marks o them that woule indicate them going into or out of the case. The only reason I think they are pulled is the crimp grove. Does the shape give you any clue as to the mfg. might be?
Are they users?

The one on the right looks a dead ringer for a Ranier 230 Gr. RN and yes, it looks like it has been crimped.

Given 700!! Wow... plink away my friend. Accuracy will probably still be fine.

They've been pulled and yes, you can reload them and shoot them. As long as the plating hasn't been broken, they will shoot just fine, but you can only shoot them once...........

If I were shooting them, they would be reusable. I'd collect as many as I could dig out of the impact berm, melt them down and remold (is that a word?) them into a similar shape. They may not end up the same caliber, but the end result would be the same. Some of my bullets have gone downrange several times.

I can just hear them talking to each other in the berm. "What were you in your last life?" "Me, I was a .38, but this time I came back as a .45. Next time, I hope to come back as a .41 Magnum. What's your goal?" "Mine is to be a .45-120 Sharps, but it would take several of us to make one of those."

Gee, maybe a new TV sitcom in the making. It would be as good as most of the pabulum they serve up now...........

While I can't directly comment about those bullets above besides saying I'd load em and shoot em, I can directly comment about pulled bullets in general. I picked up 6k of pulled and sized 223 - 55 fmj's that had a visible cut mark on each bullet lengthwise. I loaded them as usual for 223 remington and fired them in my customized Mini 14. Once the scope settled in and I had my zero, I could not miss a 10" plate at 200 yards no matter how hard I tried. They look kind of funky, but they shot well enough for me. So long as they aren't majorly deformed, out of round, or otherwise compromised, I believe they will shoot well enough for what they are. I did not get a chance to pick up the 62 gr fmj's as I wanted to, but if they become available again I may try them. Unfortunately prices went up, but are still MUCH less than new premium bullets. If they look to be good and are the same size, why not? Nothing wrong with free

I'm not pouring thimbles full of lead back into recovered jackets............

Back to being serious. I've got a target with 5 rounds of pulled .223 bullets into 5/8" at 200 yards from my varminter. I shot that target many years ago and saved it, since it showed that the pull marks on the bullets didn't seem to make any difference.

They look like Rainier and I'd load 'em and shoot 'em. If however, you feel that are not worthy to go into your firearm, you could send them here to CT Given 700...I'm living wrong.
