I live in the bay area of CA, so prices are higher here, but today I went to get a USP 45 from a local shop and their list price was 950.00!! That seemed really high to me, so I asked if the price was firm or if there was some room to move. He said he could get the price down to 860.00 and about 960.00 out the door. I stated that I didn't want to pay more than 900.00 and then he said "That's not going to happen", took the gun off the counter and walked away from where I was standing. I thought that him walking away from me and the way he snatched the gun back was really rude, but I smiled and said okay, I will try to get some more money together and come back. He then said that the price he just gave me was a smoking deal on that gun and that he didn't think I could find a place to sell me one for 900.00, then added in a pissy tone that I could pay half now and half later and that I had 30 days to get the money together. I declined. (If I don't have it, I don't spend it or agree to spend what I don't have) At that point he seemed to be getting annoyed with me and states, well when you come back I might not be so generous with the price, and I can remember faces.(Implying that if I come back he will know it is me) His comment got a few of the other costumers to laugh and I can see he liked that. I smiled and said that's okay, I need time to think it over anyway. The guy lost a sale, and I still have 900.00 dollars and the knowledge not to do business with that man, but I am now wondering what an average price of a USP 45 is out the door? This shop is known for giving good deals, but that seems really high, even for an H&k. Should I expect to pay 950 for a USP? Thanks!!!
-Mike

Screw him. It amazes me that in a state like california, so many gun shops are willing to bite the hands that feed them. Head over to gunbroker and you should find plenty of USP's that will be less than 900 even with all the transfer fees. There are also plenty of dealers out of state that will sell for much less.

I've never understood why gunshops think they can rape people on prices for guns that are on the approved list. I can have it shipped to their shop, pay all the fees and still clear far better than their lowest price. Plus they have to do all the work and they didn't make the sale.

4 days ago I got a brand new green usp 40 with the fiberoptic front sight and novak rear for $736.70 after taxes (which are 6%) (price before tax was 695) and I got $25 dollar range credit. I live in Georgia for what is worth

My brand new HK USP full sized .45 was $685 delivered, from CDNN in Texas.

The compact version was $712.

Both transactions included the UPS cost. They were both Version 1.

Your dealer is ignorant. I hope he doesn't find anyone dumb enough to pay that price.

Good for you for walking away. Call CDNN and you will have your brand new HK USP .45 fast.

Bill

There are some guns, which, due to their rarity, command a price above MSRP. The full size USP .45 is not one of them.

I would think around $750-810 new, possibly less, and much less if you are willing to go used. There is a used one listed on gunsamerica for $555, and that one comes with four 10 round mags (Cali. friendly and all). Or call CDNN and see if they have any new ones left, which they sell at below my dealer costs.

I don't know what your FFL transfer rates are around there, but if you can't find a new one off the shelf for $800 (before taxes and all the hubbub) let me know and I'll try to order you one.

I would not give that ass anything. You should be able to find the pistol for a better price online. CDNN has great prices as said above but they do not ship to CA.

I bought a USP 9mm from Sporting Arms for under $700. A USP.45 shouldn't be much more. Factor in Dealer transfer and DROS and it'll still be much under what that dealer was asking for.

End of 06' I purchased a safe queen LNIB USP45f for $550 shipped to me by someone on HKPRO.

Keep looking. There are fair prices out there.

Good for you, 30-06. I can't believe that guy would risk losing a sale with his poor attitude and outright rude statement about "remembering faces." I know I'd never go back, that's for sure. Unless maybe it was to show him the brand new USP 45 that I bought for way less than his price, of course. ;)

Get the LE package from an online dealer for around $739.00 and have it shipped. The LE package comes with factory night sights and 3 hi-cap mags instead of two regular mags. Its worth the extra cost for the night sights alone. let alone the extra mag which retails at over $50.00 alone.

Not in CA

crap...sorry, I am not familiar with the laws outside the USA. Either way $900.00 is insane, especially with the release of the HK45 and P30, the USP's are old news and people are selling them left and right so the demand is down. I carry and love my USP and wouldnt trade it for the world, but the fact is its just not the latest and greatest and cant command a $900.00 price tag...at least not to my knowledge.

Where in CA are you? I recently saw a pre-owned USP 45 date code AA that sold for $500 w/ 4 mags...in CA.

I'm in CA, I paid $829 and $869 for each of my two USP45.
Sure it costs more here like everything else. But wages are higher here too. Of course if you compare Alabama income with Cali spending, you're broke.
If you compare Cali income vs North Carolina spending, we'd be rich.

Turner's now got some sale on USP45 for $769 with night sights. As the Governator say, stop whining. Go find better price.

'down to $860.00 and $960.00 out the door'

Wow, what are the tax rates in California and what are the additional charges?

We can easily sell a USP for $860.00 out the door including tax and $3.00 to make the goofy phone call and pick up a nice profit margin too.

Prices tend to be high in Florida also. There was a time when you were a fool if you paid MSRP, now its becoming far more common to pay it, atleast where I live. I can't see paying a $100 over MSRP though. Still I never let $100 stand between me and something I want.

Thanks for all the replies. I spoke with a few of my friends and family that have shopped there before, and it seems that the guy I dealt with has been there for quite a while and everyone stated he is a jackass that either said or did something rude or tried to screw them. All other salesman are just fine I am told, but I have an issue buying from a dealer that would keep such a jerk with them for many years. I called another local shop and asked what their price would be and they said they have one there right now for 875.00 before tax and background. I didn't ask over the phone if they will move a bit on the price, but again I spoke with friends that bought guns from there and the price you see is the price you pay. Those two are the only local shops, so I think no matter what I am going to pay up the nose. Thanks again for the reponces and I'll let you all know what happens once I make the visit to the other shop.

I went to the other local shop this afternoon and I was impressed. The dealer was fair and straight forward. Their prices were good and all the employees seemed genuinely interested in me and what I was looking for, which really sold me on the purchase. I went ahead and bought the USP 45-F. I got if for 892.00 out the door. Not a great price, but a fair one for my area and the service was very good. I will post pix next week when I pick it up. Thanks to all for replies. Be Safe.
-Mike

Congrats, Mike. Looks like you got a pretty fair price for the area and, in the process, found a good shop that you can feel comfortable returning to.

Enjoy the USP -- looking forward to pics and impressions!
