This is a recent KSL editorial. Hopefully you compatriots will make
their switchboards ring off the wall telling them you'll watch channels
4 and 2 from now on, thank you very much from us "few concealed carry
fanatics."

Speaking Plainly About Guns
Feb. 12, 2004

Senate Majority Leader Michael Waddoups recently used what he described
as "plain language" to explain his latest impudent effort to amend
Utah's liberal gun law.

As far as the conservative senator from Taylorsville is concerned, only
the state legislature can set policy regarding guns on public property,
including Utah's colleges and universities.

May we use equally plain language to express KSL's view . . . and what
repeated public opinion polls suggest is the long-held majority view in
this state: Senator Waddoups and his concealed carry cronies could use a
good dose of common sense.

Guns, concealed or otherwise, don't belong on college campuses!

The people charged with running Utah's schools know what works and what
is best for their institutions. The University of Utah, for example, has
a 30-year-old gun policy that has helped maintain a safe haven for
learning. Would forcing a policy change to allow concealed weapons, in
reality, do anything to make the campus safer?

Let's continue to speak plainly.

KSL is not against the second amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Guns
have a place in American life. In recent years, though, the gun debate
in Utah has gotten way out of whack. In plain language, it is time to do
what's best for all Utahns, not merely what will satisfy the
narrow-mindedness of a few concealed carry fanatics.

Absolutely right, James D.!

Let only rapists and killers have guns on campus. Disarm all the background checked, practice-proofed, law abiding citizens out there. They are just concealed carry cronies!

The government, EVERY government (and that includes liberal "educator" cronies) , proofed so clearly how to run the country (Waco, Ruby Ridge, LA Riots etc. etc.).

Let's continue to speak plainly: what we need are people with LOGIC, not with FEELINGS, to run this country.

Let's speak plainly: It's too late already, the morons have taken over and the sheeple are electing them again, and again, and again...

They elected Ed Kennedy now for more than 40years, and his car killed more people than my guns!

It's disgusting.

As ever .. totally over looking and demeaning ''lawful people'' .. the ones who carry responsibly.
The University of Utah, for example, has a 30-year-old gun policy that has helped maintain a safe haven for learning
Safe haven also for any non law abiding hood, who feels like smuggling in a gun and having his revenge on society.... with no one available to do a damn thing about it.

When will there be some real and sane balance to these judgements.

KSL's editorials have constantly blasted the gun community and the legislature anytime they are in favor of gun owners. KSL seems to be fairly liberal believe it or not...especially compared to Utah's other TV news.

Unsupported assertions and appeals to authority...

That'll show 'em.

I see that critical thinking and logic are still not required courses for journalism students.

Every time I read something like this that originates in Utah, I get pissed. I can't tell you how pissed I am right now -- it's not conveyable in words.

And the problem is, every time I say something about it, there are armies of people (my parents the loudest thereof) telling me that I'm a fanatic, I'm not realistic, I have mental problems, and that I'm paranoid because of my view with guns.

I've had it with KSL's bull????. I'm going to call them and give them a large slice of my mind, and I'm going to tell them that channel 2 is the news program that I'll be watching.

May we use equally plain language to express KSL's view... [snip] ...Guns, concealed or otherwise, don't belong on college campuses!

GUNS BELONG EVERYWHERE!!! What DOESN'T belong on college campuses are violent criminals. Can it guarantee that there will be no one on campus that wishes me ill will? Didn't think so. Therefore they have no legitimate say as to whether guns should be carried ANYWHERE.

There anti-gun policy is, IMO, worse than a murderer or rapist... it denies the possibility that those people can exist in their "happy place." Well, until they find away to take away pain, to remove bad memories, to install life back into a dead body, then the only responsible options are to tell them why you won't be going there, or to carry anyway.

I'm sick of people WHO CAN'T REASON!!!!! :fire: :cuss: :cuss: :cuss: :cuss:

Wes, disgusted Utahn.
