I have CT, MA, UT, VA, NH, & FL but I live in NYC & can't carry an extension baton go figure I'll never give my permit up damn it it's mine all mine!

Why would you be disappointed that there are fewer barriers to concealed carry?

I don't feel the showing proficiency is a barrier. I have seen persons receive Utah permits and they have no idea on how to properly use a weapon.

According to a source, UT has issued 112,000 CCW permits, of which 38,300 are for out-of-state holders. The cost of a permit is $66.25, the FBI gets $30.25 for fingerprinting fees and $35.00 goes to UT. That's $1.3 million coming in for UT just for the CCW fees.

It is. Regardless of how you feel. Until someone proves they are a threat they are assumed not to be. Just because you "feel" someone doesn't know how to use a weapon is no reason for you to be calling for restrictions on the rights of others.

I have two neighbors (this is in Utah) that have permits. Both of them have had ND's inside their houses while they were trying to figure out how to use a gun. When I went thru the CCW process in Utah, about 12 years ago, you were required to show proficiency in both semi auto pistol and revolvers. To me it seems scary knowing that there are permit holders that literally do not know how to load and/or cycle a weapon.

I am 100% in favor of CCW's BUT I am also 100% in favor of permit holders have a pracital knowledge of their weapon.

I Find It Ironic...

...that Utah should be considering requiring in-state training right when Arizona has just again relaxed its training requirements. Arizona, which used to have the strictest training requirements for a shall-issue state, has gradually been relaxing them with no adverse effects (unless you consider doubling the application rate an adverse effect). It remains to be seen just how the recently passed SB 1070, which further relaxes the training requirements, will be interpreted.

Go to this website it can help answer your questions, and yes Utah makes a ton of money off these permits or they would not waste the time or man power to allow it.

Looked all over this site. Can find no where where cost and income are mentioned. And yes, sometimes programs do cost a state money. The thought that one department makes money, but the same process causes another to loose money still cost the state money.

You better check the definition of irony. You're comparing apples and oranges. Arizona can do what it likes, and so can Utah. It's interesting to see all the out-of-staters rag on us so much. Once again, Utah doesn't have to offer this service to non-residents AT ALL if it chooses.

in other words, don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Yup, absolutely! And, I can decide to vacation somewhere else. And, my State can decide to drop Utah also from its recognition. After all, States are often like little kids. You make it harder for us, we'll make it harder for you.

Shame on all of them!

Sorry my governor has decided to be a dolt on this issue guys.:(

Rest assured that Utah gun owners are working to stop him on this. But 'ol smilin' John has a lot of pull up on the hill. We'll just have to keep calling our reps.

As for BCI not being funded correctly? Not anymore. Last session they changed things around. CCW money now funds BCI first. General fund only gets what's left.
