Hey folks,
Last week I talked to an aquaintance who recommended a NEW Utah outfitter, 2 young brothers just getting started. This guy says they were great last season, worked thier tails off for him, trying to get established, etc. I trust him at his word and he doesn't seem to have any stake in it. He hunted elk last fall and went back for mountain lion with them.
Bull/trophy tags are out of the question for this year but cow/spike tags are readily available for an archery hunt in thier area. $1800 for a 5 day guided hunt with meals and lodging. one or more shot opportunities per day are normal, says young new outfitter. Elk are plentiful and dumb, says he.
I don't expect to be pampered but does this sound like a really good deal? too good? or maybe just so so? no other references seem to be available but I realize they are new.
I am considering taking a chance with them for the cow/spike hunt and getting a look at thier territory and thier operation, maybe trying to book a trophy hunt for '06 or maybe cat or bear.
Whatcha think?
Thanks
(I really want to hunt with my self-made longbow and primitive arrows)
