Now that the AWB is nearing it's "sunset" (hopefully), I'm starting to think a semi-auto 9mm Uzi with a folding stock and 16" barrel (don't won't to hassle with tax stamp for shorter barrel) would be a fun plinker. I have zero experience with Uzi's, so I'm wondering what kind of accuracy could I expect from one? How reliable/durable are they? How difficult are they to field-strip and clean? Also, any guesses/speculation on availability and cost of a new Uzi in the configuration I described, after the AWB sunsets?

I saw this on Gunbroker and it fits what I'm looking for except the fixed stock. What would it take to make this a folding stock AFTER the AWB expires/sunsets.

Thanks.

As accurate as any other closed bolt 16 in" barrel rifle.

How reliable/durable are they?

Mine goes bang every single time for about 10,000 before the last cleaning.

How difficult are they to field-strip and clean?

3 minutes to remove topcover, bolt, barrel, trigger group. 1 minute with plastic panels. 10 minutes in a bucket of solvent. 1 minute powder blast. 30 minutes air dry. 1 minute plastic panels. 3 minutes with topcover, barrel, barrel, and trigger group.

$595.99 from Vectors Arms.

If the stock mounting piece is not welded on, about 3 minutes to change stocks.

Vectors good.

How soon will Vector be selling them? Are they in-country, or will we have to wait for the next shipment from Israel to get folders?

For $600ish, I think I gotta have one, I already have an AK and an AR15, I need to complete my collection of evil guns.

I also need one to shoot while snickering at my cousin (extreme HK snob, he has a USP, USC, SL8-1, etc) when he has problems with his Bobcat HK-94 (he gets about 1 FTE per ~20 rounds). :neener:

I told my son that I was thinking about buying a semi-auto Uzi and he was all for it. Do you all think that Uzi's like the one I linked above (except WITH a folding stock) will be available and similarly priced after the AWB sunsets?

I've had this one so long I don't remember when I bought it.
I replaced the folding stock because I never shot it folded. (later the folding stock was in a fire)

The gun is reliable, fairly accurate and fun to shoot.
What more can you ask. :)
The Red Dot/scope mount can be removed in 15 seconds.
