This happened in my neighborhood last night. It was on the 6 o'clock news but so far none of the local news outlets have added it to their sites (they tend to be slow to update on the weekend). I'll post more info as it comes in. So far the delivery man has not been charged. The alleged robber was 17 years old.

On a purely selfish note, I guess this is it for pizza delivery, since there was only one place in town that would even come into my neighborhood at all. Guess it's back to Chinese. :fire:

I wouldn't expect widespread media coverage. The courthouse shooting or something similar is a lot edgier than any story about defensive gun use.

A pizza delivery man confronted by two robbers in Hillside Court shot one of them to death Friday night.

According to Richmond Police the delivery man says he was approached by two men and they demanded money, he refused, and pulled out a gun and shot one of them to death.

Richmond Police say 17 year old Angelo Blair was found dead at the scene. The delivery man called police after the shooting.

The other suspect remains at large.

The driver will not face charges in this case.

I can't believe ANYONE was delivering a pizza to Hillside Court. I wouldn't send the Terminator in to deliver a pizza there.

Good shooting on the part of the driver! :)

I think even if an ARMED citizen saved the life of a congress critter or one of the other "ruling elite" it would NOT make the news as being just that.

Ummm, I don't want to appear to be taking the side of the bad guys, but I don't know of anywhere in the country that you can just shoot a guy dead because he and his pal demand money from you. Nowhere in the story does it give any indication that the robbers were armed or threatened this guy's life. If there's not more to this story, I'd be real surprised if the driver doesn't get charged.

If there's not more to this story,
I don't know about your neck of the woods but our "news" outlets never print the important parts of these events. Many times (I'm told) it's at the request of Law Enforcement to avoid contaminating the jury pool in case of a trial.

If they say he's not going to be charged, it pretty much has to be a good shoot.

If it's a good shoot and he's not going to be charged, then there should be no problem releasing all the information, eh? This just happened Friday night and the D.A. has already made the determination that he won't be charged?

The media elites who spend much of their time trying to disarm us are going to print data that supports the argument against them? :scrutiny:

Also, out of laziness (and limited space in the paper) most "journalists" aren't going to update their story after they first run it and most editors wouldn't allow it even if the journalist wrote the new piece in their spare time.

So does this pizza delivery guy still have a job?

Hillside Court (one of the city's residential projects) is number 6 on this map of slaying locations for the past four years. Anyone familiar with Richmond would have reasonable cause to believe a guy demanding money in this neighborhood was armed. John

If he was driving for Pizza Hut, he'll probably be fired. Pizza Hut has a policy whereby their rules are more important than their employee's lives. :barf:

It sounds more like poor reporting to me. If the police decided not to charge him, it's pretty likely there was more to it than just a demand for money before the delivery person drew and fired his gun.

It's a very short article, and they obviously didn't try very hard to pain a clear picture of the situation. I wouldn't base an opinion on if the shooting was justified based on that news article. The fact that the driver isn't facing any charges seems to make it pretty clear that it was considered self defense.

We have a weekly African-American paper in Richmond, the Free Press, that comes out midweek. I'm sure it will be front page news there, with a lot more details. Will keep everyone posted.

It's disparity of force. Two against one. Shoot one robber and even things out. If the other robber sticks around, he ain't too bright. Although robbing the pizza delivery guy isn't too smart in the first place.
