For those who don't get VCDL alerts:

VA-ALERT: URGENT - CALLS NEEDED TO REPEAL RESTAURANT BAN!

LET'S GET THE RESTAURANT BAN OUT OF THE SENATE!

If you want the restaurant ban to go away, we need every vote we can
get in the Senate. Let's generate calls - lots of them on MONDAY
MORNING!

Call your Senator and leave a message urging your Senator to support
Senator Hanger's restaurant ban repeal bill, SB 476:

(800) 889-0229

or

(804) 698-1990 (if you are in Richmond)

If the 800 number is busy, you can get the direct phone number to your
Senator by putting in your street address, city and zip+4 here:

http://conview.state.va.us/whosmy.nsf/main?openform

Be sure you are part of the solution and not part of the problem -
MAKE THAT CALL!

I assure you, I won't be part of the problem. The problem was created by people who voted for politicians. We wouldn't have the problem to begin with if people hadn't elected politicians. Yet you plan to solve the problems by electing other politicians? Electing "different" politicians? The roof is leaking and walls are cracked not because we need a new roof and walls, but because the foundation, taxational government, is faulty.

Voting for politicians is like Calvinball. If you play with them, they will make up the rules of the game whenever they want, and you will never win. As Joshua said, "Strange game: the only winning move is not to play."

This thread isn't about voting for senators, it's about calling our current senators on Monday morning to ask them for a "yes" vote on the CC restaurant ban repeal.

I'll call monday. I'm tired of feeling like a criminal every time I carry in Chili's or the bowling alley. I really hope this goes through.

Fortunately my rep is Jill Vogel. She's already written me back in support of SB 476 both email AND a letter.

I just called. The secretary will ask for your name, address, email and what bill you want to support. She will then forward it to your Senator. Pretty simple and painless.

Hopefully they are getting a lot of calls, when I talked to her, she knew what bill it was as soon as I said it.

Here's what I sent...I'm probably a bit more reserved on this issue than some, but I simply can't see the logic of keeping guns out of the hands of the law abiding. Unfortunately my senator is Patsy Ticer.

Quote: Senator: Like you, I do not generally agree with
the
conservatives in Richmond; however, on this issue
I'd
really appreciate it if you'd take a fresh look.

To get my concealed handgun permit, I had to
prove
familiarity with guns and gun safety and pass a
records check. If the law says, as it now does,
that
I can't bring a concealed gun into a restaurant
that
serves alcohol, then I obey that law. While I
could
lawfully carry a gun openly, I believe that would
be
disruptive and disturbing to my fellow diners.

Who, then brings a concealed handgun into the
restaurant? Someone intent on criminal activity
will
not be deterred by the ban...that person has not
been
through the vetting process...that person, though
is a
threat to me.

The VT tragedy happened for a lot of reasons;
however
it did not happen because a person who had a
concealed
handgun permit committed a crime.

I urge you rethink your position on this
important
issue and support repeal of the so-called
restaurant
ban.

Thank you for your attention.
