I recently picked up what i thought was nothing more than an ordinary USP9, however, upon further inspection, the slide was marked P8. Since then I have done some extensive researching, and have learned that the barrel, slide, and recoil spring are AUTHENTIC P8 parts, and the frame is all USP parts, now for the strange part. All three, the slide barrel and frame, serial numbers MATCH. I contacted H&K and had several gunsmiths look at it to verify nothing on this pistol has been altered. So, if someone could speculate on the value of such a rare find, i would greatly appreciate it. Pictures are available upon request. Thanks for all the help. Below is the email i received from H&K.

This would make an excellent addition to any H&K collection, so with that said this pistol will be for sale very soon. Here are some other forums i have listed the same info in.

Your pistol is date coded KF indicating the year of manufacture being 1995.
That is about the same time the USP was going through some design changes and upgrades. It is also the same year that the P8 was first fielded to German military divisions. We do not know an exact number, but very few of them were imported through HK in Sterling, VA. Your pistol was first sold to Accusport Corp. in Bellfontaine, OH on September 3, 1996. It was listed in our computer system as a USP 9mm Variant 1, however, your markings are for a P8 and all serial #s match, so yours is a combination of the two platforms. We cannot speculate on what its value may be.

I thought the HK P8 was to the USP as the Beretta M9 is to the 92fs, or the Sig P6 to the 225...same gun but with a military designation.

it is, however since less than 20 actual P8 designated pistols were imported into the states to see/own one is rare, and since this is the case, i assume that since this is an all numbers matching pistol and is a factory made pistol with p8 slide, barrel and spring and a usp receiver, it'd be even more rare, also p8's have non-polygonal barrels, and when they have the p8 lower the safety is reversed

i'm trying to find a good value so i can sell it, i'm a shooter not a collector

I have done a decent amount of research on German Police pistols, and owning a P8 would be an interesting addition for the collection. However, that being said I would be sure to inform people that the safety is a P8/USP hybrid (i.e. different than a regular P8); who knows maybe you will get a premium. For someone like me, I'd rather have a real P8.

You didn't post pictures of your actual safety controls, but the P8 safety is not only inverted but is also located on the frame and not on the control lever (a subtle but significant difference).
