A friend of mine killed himself and his wife would like to sell his guns. He has two World war II guns. Can anyone give me a rough value of them. I have attached pictures of the guns.

Broomstick, where are you located? A friend of mine runs a military antique and firearms store. I have seen WW2 period P38s in worse shape go for $1200, no holster. Of course that is his retail price and not what he paid for it. You best bet is to check Gunbroker for similar condition pieces and or to find a military antiques expert in your area.
Dang, he is in Colorado Springs. Poke around and see if you can find someone in your area that deals in such things. Sorry to hear about your friend.
There were two pics of the same byf...left side. What is the other pic showing the right side?...is it a different gun? If so, what does the left side look like?

look at any part that has a number stamped on it and see if they all match the serial number stamped on the slide.
Also look at the bottom of the magazine and see if the serial number (if any) matches.
if it does that's a premium.

the 135 on the right side of the slide is a proof mark IIRC.
Last time I asked around the forums my AC41 walther was estimated around $400-500. All matching except the magazine. Here's a pic for comparison. I'm not a P.38 expert though and other mfgs/dates are worth more.

It depends a good deal on the date of manufacture and the proof marks on the gun. If it is all matching in terms of serial numbers and is not very common, they could be quite valuable. You might want to post the information on http://luger.gunboards.com/index.php . There are a good number of experts on that site that can help.

A friend of mine has an AC42 P-38 (all matching) that he bought at a gun shop for $675. I asked a friend of mine that is into collecting WWII axis firearms and he said that the price was about right. I would check around though. The single action trigger on those P-38s is great.
You might want to visit the P.38 Forum and check in there. Some of the top P.38 collectors in the nation are regulars on that forum, and many top collectors from around the world visit as well. If you can post four detailed photos -- both guns, both sides -- and provide a description of the numbers and magazines, the folks there will be able to tell you exactly what the guns are worth.
The Mauser-made byf 43 in your top photo is a nice-looking piece. If it's all matching, and if the magazine is correct to the pistol, it could be worth $800 or so, though many variables must be considered. The rig would add another $100 to $150, or more, depending on its condition and whether it's original to the gun and/or the period.

Have P-38s gone up that much in the past year? I priced one just last year at a local shop at just under $300. It was in decent shape but I don't know any particulars about it. Wartime Walthers are subject to many variables when it comes to value.

There were many P38 pistols pumped out in the German war effort from various manufacturing facilities and many produced in post war manufacturing.
Now as I understand it there were also a lot of commercial pistols that were commandeered and ended up being carried by German soldiers.
