I am planning on selling my Ruger Security Six. It is a 4 inch barrel, stainless steel.
It has only had one box of ammo through it. I have not fired it for years. It is in new condition.
What would be a fair price to ask for it?
Any help would be appreciated.

A lot would depend on what State you are located in, because prices vary! What State are you located in? California would be around $350 for a NIB Ruger Security Six!

My >>2003<< "Gun Trader's Guide" says $235 for excellent condition, and $294 for new condition.

Same book says $250 excellent and $300 new for a stainless finish Ruger Speed Six--round grip, fixed sights, and $240 excellent and $275 new for a stainless finish Ruger Service Six--square grip, fixed sights.

(About 2 years ago I paid $260 for an excellent condition, stainless finish, Ruger Speed Six. It had these custom features: polished finish, lime green front sight insert, finger groove wood grips, and an 8-lb. double action trigger pull.)

My opinion is that your Security Six is worth a solid $275. It's been fired, so technically it's not new. Rugers are good guns, but not as popular as Smith & Wesson.
