As long as Sally knows she isn't just a "Prom Queen" and may be expected to get up early, bake biscuits and maybe even butcher a hog, no reason that she may not be the girl for you!

I love those grips.

As to your question, there is only one correct answer. You paid a given price for a given item, and the only thing to ask is, "was there a better alternative"?

Could you have found it at a lower price, given the time you'd be willing to wait, and given the risk of losing this gun to another buyer? Was there a different gun you could have bought that would have made you happier now? I'm guessing the answer to both of those is 'no'. That means you did great. You got your first choice. That doesn't happen every day.

FWIW I've never seen a sp101 like that. You'd have been looking a long time for another one.

Once i find some ammo she will be my primary ccw along with my beretta tomcat in an ankle holster. I found out it is a Talo edition which i.dont know too much about.them.

There are a lot of Talo's out there. Talo is a retailer that sells enough handguns that manufacturers will make a special run unique to their specifications to give them an exclusive product. Sometimes the differences are meaningful, like 3" barrels where that model cannot be found in 3" anywhere else, sometimes just ego and bling.

That is a fine defensive weapon. If it functions well for that purpose, the bling is gravy. If the bling makes it a "safe queen"? Then, meh..not my flavor. If Sally is the kind of gal that can butcher a hog, it's all good, you'll never mistake her for someone else's.

Regular SP101s are going for $520 around here so I'd say you did good! I would probably pay $580 for that, but I haven't brought myself to pay over $500 for a plain jane model.

That SP is blingey but the bling doesnt seem to interfere with carry and usage so that it good. Nice gun belt and leather with some nickle-cased ammo and you are ready for any Texs BBQ. Hehehe

I just bought a run of mill SP with 3 inch for ~$400 clams last month so yours doesnt seem too far out there.

Talo is a distributor of firearms and like rswartsell stated because of their size, many manufacturers will make special "runs" for them. You cannot buy from them directly but from retailers that buy them from their wholesalers. Their "options" vary as much as the models they have and those models run the gambit from .500Mag X-Frames to 10/22 carbines. In most cases, the difference from stock is purely cosmetic. While their prices generally demand a slight increase in price when new from stock factory models, once they hit the used market, they may or may not. I have one Talo myself, a 686 Plus that came with an unfluted cylinder, custom wood grips and a 5'' barrel. It cost me $20 OTD more than a standard 4" or 6" 686 Plus. S&W does not currently offer the 686 in a 5'' , nor do they offer them with unfluted cylinders. No Gold Bling, no name for 'er, but she sure shoots.
