A number of years ago I bought a used Model 66-4. It was manufactured in 1996 and is in great condition. I was thinking of selling it and putting that money towards one of two Rugers, their Redhawk .357, model 5059 or their GP100 model 1771. I like the 66, but like the Rugers more. First, is there any reason you wouldn't recommend doing this? Second, I'm having a hard time pinning down the value of the 66. The ones I see on Gunbroker that actually have bids on them are in the $500 to $600 range. They seem to be listed a little higher on Armslist. Is $600 a fair price if I decide to sell it?

You don't mention barrel length. The 2.5 inch version should easily bring $625 -650 if not more. A 4 or 6 inch $500-550

It's a 4 inch barrel. If I remember correctly, I paid $500 for it, so it looks like it's held it's value well.

In some areas a nice 4 inch 66 could be worth $600 or more and the snubbies are going for $700-750 but prices are lower where I am

I’d hang onto it, it’s the most packable 357 I’ve owned. Very accurate and they truly don’t make them like they used to.

That being said $500 what id expect. Mine is a S.D. Police marked gun and I paid $380 otd. Figure that was good deal for having target stocks

Your gun, your choice of whether to keep or sell. What others would do is really a moot point. $600 is s good starting point, new ones sell around here for a tad over $700.

I see 4" 66's listed around me in the $600-700 range. I assume they actually sell for $550-600.

Good little stoppers and carry nice on the belt, good balance in the hand and swell sights. I'd keep it. Far better than the MIM lock guns of today with two piece barrels, weird blacked out controls, bead blasted finish, just gross and the older ones are so much better and more interesting.

If you were local I would trade you my GP100 for it . You don't see many 66's for sale around here . I think you could get $550 to $600 for it .

Thanks for the responses. With the 66 holding it's value well I think I'm going to keep it. I have more plastic 9's than I need, so I'll probably sell one of those and pick up the GP100 also.

I sold a LNIB 4 inch 66-4 at the gunshow last summer for $750. To a dealer!

Did you see the asking prices on the new knock off "model 66's"? Good luck with your sale! :)
