I'd suggest you try a few things first before filing the sights!!
1. Blacken the sights to reduce glare with soot from a candle flame, or a dry-erase marker.
2. Try shooting light recoiling .44 Special in it for practice until you get used to the recoil & blast of full power .44 Mag ammo.
3. Shoot it off a bench & sandbags to help rule out shooter induced flinching.
4. Have another experienced handgun shooter try it and see how his results come out.
There is no good reason to file the front sight until you can consistently shoot good groups to figure out how much to file.
And then you will have to decide on a load and stay with it from that point on, as other loads will shoot to a different POI then the one you used to sight in the gun with a file!
