Varget Powder In The M1A

I would like some opinions in using Varget in my M1A loading both 150 and 168 gr bullets. I have been using H4895 exclusively and am starting to run out. I have an unopened 5 lb can of Varget and would like to try that. My main concern is damage to my op rod or other part. My rifle is a NM. Advice please?

Vargets burn rate is similar to 4320. Hornady lists it as a powder choice in their #7 manual under M1 specific loads with all bullet wtg. I wouldn`t worry about using it

Varget falls within the burn rate range of powders suitable for the M1A platform. Go for it.
