223, 243, 308, and 6X45... The 6x45 likes H4895 better, so will see if the others do. Still trying to find one "magical" powder that works with everything I reload.

Wow. You call $19 lb cheep? How much is new powder? I have paid that or almost that for a few lbs but most of the powder I have bought in the last three years has been between $4-10 lb.

Powder Valley is one of the most competitively priced retailers on the planet and Vihta Vuori N120 and N130 sells for $31.00 per pound, so yes, $19 per pound is a very good price. I'd like to know what powder you're buying for $4 to $10 per pound. Talcum powder perhaps!

Dayum! Used to see those prices maybe 25 years ago or so but nowhere around here or on the internet in the last three years.

Thanks for the laugh. I by mostly pull down with of names that no one knows what it is from Jeff at gibrass.com test it and make my own data. If you buy him out of the odd stuff he will cover part of yes shipping for you. Don't expect him to deal on the stuff he can't keep in stock tho.

.223 and .308 bolt guns. Varmint and deer loads. I just built an AR set up for varminting, so I'll try my bolt gun load and see how it does, maybe tweak that load for the new rifle. I really donlt want to have to buy different powder. I'm down to Red Dot and Varget now.

I've used Varget,AA 2520,Imr 4064,Win 748,in .308 Win,30-30 Win,.243 Win and I can't tell much differance but Varget does seem to heat up the barrell quicker.biker

Wow. You call $19 lb cheep? How much is new powder? For the last year I've been seeing some at that price & refuse to buy it. I have paid that or almost that for a few lbs but most of the powder I have bought in the last three years has been between $4-10 lb. I have a nice stock so if it is that high I'll leave that to the grand kids to buy there self. I bought enough that they even paid half the shipping & Hazmat.

Where are you buying powder at I pay 25-30 bucks a lb locally

Varget has been my go to powder for .308 as it was recommended for .308 out of the 700 sps tac aac-sd when I started reloading

I've tried Varget in .243 and .257 Roberts; just loaded a couple hundred rounds in .223. Surprisingly, the best in the Roberts turns out to be 8208 XBR. 5 rounds in a single hole, and VERY temperature-independent as experienced between August and November here in Northern NY State. -We'll see what it does in the AR, which up to now has been "eating" Win748.

Stopped at three shops/stores that carry reloading supplies yesterday. All had some powder, although no Varget, also had bullets, but primers.........nope.
