Hey, does anybody have some good information on Varmint Grenade bullets? I mean from the physics standpoint - a core of sintered metal? Did I read that right? I get the theory - but only to the extent of a paragraph or two in an advertizement.
I also get the catalog from www.cheaperthandirt.com where they're selling special "DRT" ammo that, according to the ad, contains heavy metal 'dust' in the core.
The theory behind both, as I understand it, is that when the bullet hits something solid enough to disrupt the structural integrity of the projectile, the superheavy 'dust' decelerating causes 100% of the kinetic energy to be dumped immediately, causing massive wounding.
Do I have that right? Anybody out there shooting the Varmint Grenade or DRT ammo? If I could beg you guys for info, I'd ask for both the anecdotal evidence from shooters as well as weblinks to something a bit more detailed than the marketing ads.
Please?
Thanks for any info you're willing to share.
