This wasn't a full blown trip as it is only in the mid 20's here today, though the wind has finally subsided.

Battlefield zero was the goal today for my new Vector AK in 7.62x39. I was concerned when I first got it as it looked like the fsb is slightly canted to one side. The gas block does have some cant (in the other direction), but not enough to warrant any kind of corrective action.

To test and get my zero I posted some splatter targets at 25 yards and fired off a bench, no sandbags or other support. Ammo used was 40 rounds of WWB.

Function was flawless even with it at 22 degrees outside. Popped off 40 rounds without a hiccup.

Cant on the front sight block now appears to not be an issue. My 3 round groups all landed on the centerline of the targets from the get go, and no elevation adjustment was needed either. Groups at 25yrds were a little under 1.25" with an odd flyer here and there. Everything hit the black.

So I'm pretty happy with this thing and look forward to the next trip and testing at 100 and 200yrds. :)

Really. Wow, that's rough. Yesterday? The high, the HIGH, was 7*. The night before that it was -5*. Factor in wind chill...

:neener:

Seriously, though, you picked a good rifle for cold climates. It gets plenty cold in most of Russia, after all! :D

Well no that was 22 degrees this morning, after the wind quit.

Yesterday, when I wanted to go, we had freezing rain, between 16 and 19 degrees, and 30 mph winds. Don't have the calculations for that particular windchill, but I waited until today. :p
