I decided a few weeks ago that I would buy one of these belt fed monstrosities, and I was wondering if anyone had any experiances with them and with Vector as a company.

I know in addition to making AK's they also make Uzi stuff which should have exposed them to more people, but I am especially interested in the quality of their AK work. I know the RPD kits come from Bulgaria, but they make the reciever themselves, and for $2000, I am expecting a very high quality rifle.

I had the privelage to shoot one. I didn't get to take the gentleman's rifle apart and inspect it though. However, it was a total joy to shoot! I mean, even though it was semi, man, that's 99% as good as a machine gun as far as i'm concerned. Belt-fed goodness!

Only problem is that i've heard is that there is a 6 month waiting list for them from Vector.

I'm a Vector dealer. We have one. It is actually very nice looking, but I haven't gotten to shoot one yet. It sure gets people's attention when you have it on the wall at the gunshow. :) My buddy Dave works at Vector, and they do excellent AK work.

Is it true that Vector takes 6 months to finish the rifles from the time that you order them?

Is the demand that high (I'd be suprised on a $2000 rifle...) that it takes that long or is it just a very complex rifle to build?
