Hi everyone, I have a question on having a rifle rack in your truck in Arizona. Are there any laws against it? Does it have to have a lock on it or be in a certain location? I want it either on the roof or vertical between the seats. Any thoughts will help. Thanks!

I've never seen one installed in a vehicle, to be honest, and I've been all over the state. The rifles should be unloaded, obviously, though if you have CCW you don't technically have to (it's still a very good idea). A rifle rack needs to hold the rifles vertical. Otherwise you're muzzling other drivers as you go down the road and a police officer may stop you at least to verify they're unloaded.

Got one in the rear window of my PU, never been stopped over it. I do have a cable lock on the guns and take out the bolt and store seperate in a lock box. Do stop at the Border Patrol check point on I-19 with them, never any problems. No laws I've ever heard of covering this.

Don't know about the legalities of it in AZ, but it would be a bad idea to have the firearms in plain site while you went into a store or something and left the vehicle unattended. Good way to get your truck window broken and the firearms stolen.

I just use mine for guns during a hunt. Other than that it carries a couple ball caps and a lariat rope and stockwhip.

Seems like I remember a product for p/u's that was similar to a shelf where the sun visors went. Gun out of sight and above your head in the front.

Thanks for all the info guys! I wanted to put it in for bouncing around in the desert. Does anyone know of a good single gun vertical rack or roof rack for around $100? Or a place to look for them?

here in tombstone, if you get stopped by the marshalls , and they ask if have a gun and you say no ,,, they give you one !!!!!

From my understanding AZ is pretty mellow with the gun laws.

Open carry is fine there and I have heard stories of people driving around with their gun on the dash board because open thats open carry in a car. LOL :)
So I can't imagine that a gun rack would be anything anyone would blink at, just an issue if you leave your gun in your car and park it.
