As much as I may not like it there are just some places I cant carry my handgun. I have never liked the idea of leaving it in my vehicle but there just seems to be no other choice. What are you using for safe storage in your car or truck? I drive both.

Lockbox with a cable attached to the bottom of the drivers seat. Won't stop a determined burgler but great for a smash and grab type.

There are "safes" , more like a lockbox which can be installed in most truck consoles between the seats

Console vaults.

I usually just keep mine in the holster or set it under the dog.

(He bites !)

I just run a cable that is attached to one of the seat bases, thru my trigger guard and put a lock on it.

I like it. I lost both of my old dogs this year. Neither one would have bitten a fly. Dang I miss them.

Smaller vehicles don't have the same products available as trucks/SUV's do since they usually have very small center consoles. Most of the time a small cabled lock box is what people use.

This one is a heavy duty version that I have been testing out. 11ga steel on the box and bracket and a 5/16" diameter cable when the bracket won't work.

That one looks interesting. I can get a console vault for my truck but it has some things I dont like about it. The box and cable I could move from truck to car.

Smaller cars DO tend to have map pockets in the door where something can easily be placed and unseen, especially with tinted windows..............
Lock the door, no issue

Close doors and window, hit the lock button. Simple.
Seriously???

You must live in a drug free utopia!

I've had crack-heads break the side window out of my truck in the driveway to get at the car wash quarters I 'used to ' keep in the ash tray!!!

Thy would take a saws-all to a door panel or roof to get to a gun!!!

So sorry for your loss. Last year, I got my first new puppy in 67 years and cannot imagine not having her near. She's now 2.3 years old and is a wonderful addition to my family and life.

Yes, I try not to spoil her. And yes, she plays me like a fiddle to get treats. She's a Lab and food is everything to her.

If I'm forced to disarm, my car is parked in a heavy traffic area to reduce a smash and grab, generally in sight of a main street/storefront and/or myself.

In the holster, in the glovebox, locked. Car locked, alarm armed.

Unfortunately not many better options for compact cars that are inconspicuous.

Both my old dogs were labs. Ill have another but not until at least spring.

New lab

eddd7:
saw your post about your Lab. We are going to a breeder tomorrow for a litter coming up in Feb 16.
I had GSD most of my life but about two years ago a female black Lab showed up at our house. We were not ready for a new dog yet as my GSD of 11 years and just passed 5 months before.
It was a rainy cold March day when my wife and I came back from her birthday brunch.
When We got home there were two dogs in the back yard a black lab and what looked like a 1/2 size bloodhound.
We live in a very isolated area and these were not the neighbors dogs. We assumed that someone dumped them.
I went out and tried to run them off then went back inside.
This was a Sunday. On Monday morning the 1/2 size looking bloodhound was gone but the Lab was still there when I went to work. When I got home that night the lab was still there, Now I felt like a real ****. After dinner I brought her in dried her off and gave her food and water. While I was doing this my wife called down to me and and said "IS THAT DOG IN THE HOUSE"
and I said yes. Then she said she could stay downstairs.
After trying to contact the animal warden (open position at the time)
I was told I could take her to the local State police office but they would most likely have her put to sleep.
After putting several ads in the local stores with no replies we decided to keep her.
When we took her to the vet we found she had a micro chip in her but it had never bee activated.
So to try make a long story a little shorter we only had her for two years before she could not walk anymore.
We tried every thing the vet recommended but it did not work.
That was the first lab I ever had and we decided to get a another one.

Great story. Both mine were rescues. I cant imagine a better breed for me and my family. The were sweet but absolutely hated our rural mail carrier and the UPS man.

Don't leave cash where it can be seen (and where do you find a car wash that still only takes quarters instead of bills or plastic?)

i just upgraded my vehicle storage for my pistol this month... to a cojo magnet. pretty awesome for pistols
