So the LGS has the T/C venture on sale for $350 and T/C is running a $50 rebate. So for $300 I figure I can toss one in the safe. Heard a bit of good about them. Now for the question. What caliber? They are running that price for .223, .22-250, and .308. Now, I really don't have a need for any of these calibers. I've got everything to reload for the .223 as well as some old bulk reloads for an AR. I'm probably going to pass on the .22-250 since I really don't varmint hunt and anything it does better than the .223 isn't going to be utilized. The .308 sounds fun, I guess it just sounds "American" to own a .308. Don't really have a use for a .308 over a .223 and the .223 would be cheaper to shoot. But for some reason a .308 sounds fun as well.
The advertisement says they are 24" fluted barrels with a synthetic stock. I wasn't aware the Venture came in a 24" fluted barrel.
Anyways, which caliber would you buy? Varmint hunting typically is within .22lr range. The longest shooting range I have access to is 100 yards. Just moved to where you can hunt deer with a centerfire, but all the land I currently have to hunt on is in a state where you are restricted to either shotgun or a pistol (well muzzleloader and bow as well). So which would you get in my situation?
