Last night, I did paperwork on a Type 2 VEPR 7.62x54r with the rough unfinished furniture. I noticed two things, firstly that it does not take down like a normal AK, the push button is depressed until the receiver cover can be pulled over it. I could not figure it out in the store. From watching a video on You Tube, it appears that the take down button is pressed and the cover is pulled back until it can be removed. Is this correct?

Any advice for replacing the furniture?

The dust cover is hinged at the front end. Fully depress the release button, lift the back end, and rotate it open to about 90 degrees.

What? No, no its not. It takes down exactly like a normal AK, I just picked up a V2 54r a couple weeks ago. Depress the recoil spring, take the dust cover off, remove components.

As for furniture, prepare to do some filing/dremeling/sanding to get most standard AK stocks to fit. Pistol grips can also be a bit iffy-the 54r triggerguard is further back than normal AKs because of the longer magazine, so not all pistol grips fit. Standard style AK grips do seem to, however, but Idk about aftermarket designs without modifications.

Congrats on the rifle, its a good one!

Save the drama. I was referring to the VEPR-12.

In the 7.62x54 caliber rifle the dust cover is not hinged. It can be pulled out of the front slot once the release button is depressed. My mistake.
