The LGS has a 1951 336SC in .35 Rem for $599 out the door. The gun is in VG+ condition, and has not been molested since leaving the factory, sans addition of sling swivels and removal of the front sight hood. The undrilled "waffle top" receiver, traditional Ballard rifling and half-cock only safety are pluses. What do you folks think about the price on this classic Marlin in a desirable caliber?

Sounds a little high to me, but not terribly so. Lawman's in Raleigh NC had same gun mint and all original in .30-30 last year for $399 + tax. Some additional value for .35. Personally the waffle top does not add value because my eyes require a scope these days. I bought a waffle top in .32 Special all original in PA for $350 OTD 3 years ago, but flipped it because there was a large profit margin for that caliber.

Wait for a Marauder in .35 Rem. Cost more but THAT is a desirable rifle.

Just save for a while.
