I stumbled into a free pound (unopened from a trustworty source) of the above powder.

Do any of y'all use it? Any particularly good results with any cartridge?

I currently load .357mag, .44mag, & .45ACP in the pistol realm.

I downloaded the VV manual, btw. It seems OK for several different cartridges, but it is not the powder that gives highest velocities. I suspect it has some other redeeming value.

Also, I did a THR reloading search on "VihtaVuori N320" & did not come back with much beyond 9mm Gold Dots.

it is some of the most expensive powders out there.

i'm too cheap to buy it. i'll be sticking with IMR and RL for the time being.

N320 is a fast burning powder not well suited to your magnums, use it in .45ACP. It is clean and uniform, but if you want high velocity it is not the best. And Vihtavuori velocity figures are wildly optimistic at that.

I used most of what I had for power factor loads:
.45 ACP 200 gr SWC + 5.2 gr N320 = 856 fps.
which is MAXIMUM in the latest VV book I have.

And some for factory equivalent hollowpoints:
.45 ACP 185 gr JHP + 5.9 gr N320 = 967 fps.
which is below their max for a 185 gr SWC, they don't show a JHP load in that weight, but I doubt it would differ much.

I agree with Spiff, I can do as well with cheap American powder and am now loading .45s with HP38. VV N105 and N110 are good magnum powders if you don't mind paying more than for H110, W296, or 2400.

A few Bullseye and a lot of IPSC shooters use it, or V310, for 45 ... see the Brian Enos Forum, Reloading section for sample loads

It's very clean, not always easy to find and becoming increasingly overpriced as the Euro continues to pummel the dollar...but it does meter well and run comparatively clean

Also, that search string was probably a bit too detailed - try searching for just 320 or V320...

i run vv n320 exclusively for my SD carry ammo for .45acp (with hornady xtp 200 and 230 g) in my compact 1911

i like it because it is very very clean.
