Just fired my first rifle and shotgun. At 38 years old, that's pretty old, I'm afraid. A friend took me out and we shot some cans with his Ruger 22lr with scope and his Remington 870. I was pleasantly surprised how tame the Ruger was and also how I was actually able to shoot some holes in the cans. Yeah, I must be pretty good, I thought. Then he took out the Remington 12-gauge. Shot some holes in paper targets and then shot some skeet. OK, I suck. Out of about 30 rounds, I hit the target I think twice. But it was darn fun. I'm looking forward to getting out and doing it again.
Getting closer to my first purchases. Pretty sure I'm going to get the same Remington, and then either the same Ruger, or a bolt-action, rather than semi-auto. Can't wait.
