Viridian Green Laser is shifting about 5 inches on Glock 21

I bought a Viridian Green Laser sight for my Glock 21, and it helps me to shoot much better groups. At 25 yards, the laser lines up almost perfectly with the Glock's sights, and the gun will shoot nicely for about 6-10 rounds. But then something shifts and laser aimpoint will be about 5 inches off, usually toward the 'South Southwest".

I will then shoot a verification round, and the gun's sights are correct. So I readjust the Viridian and shoot the rest of the clip with extremely good accuracy. Then sometime into the next clip, the laser's aimpoint will be off again, pointing to North-Northeast.

The laser feels really tight on the gun, and the gun is less than a year old, with fewer than 400 rounds shot through it.

Any ideas? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Thanks in advance ~ Logger

Whatever is wrong, it isn't the gun's problem. I have never had a rail laser before, so I'm not sure what exactly is going on with yours, but you can discount the Glock as the source of issue here.

I have C5 universal for my XD.45 and it will stay on target for maybe a box of ammo, but will drift off beyond that, after that I will have to adjust the laser back on. I use this for HD and figure I'm not going to use that many rds. to end an attack, but do need to make sure it's on before leaving the range and being put back on the nite stand. LM

Is that normal longevity for the zero on rail mounted lasers? I've never owned one, but I guess I had expected more from them.

LightningMan, that is what I did. Before going home from the range, I re-zeroed and shot two bullets within an inch of each other. Then cleaned the Glock, rechecked it again, and put it back in the plastic case.

Any other thoughts??

I've got a Viridian C5L on my Stoeger Cougar 8045 with about 250 rounds shot using the laser and I haven't had to readjust it since it was first sighted in.

The Glocks front strap is plastic. The frame flexes when your shooting.

You lasers mount is most likely losing it's grip and wiggleing a little when the frame flexes.

Zerodefect, if what you are saying is the case, then it is probably something I am going to live with. And by the way, another problem that cropped up was the lazer itself turning off about every 8-10 shots. IT all feels very solid, but something is clearly amiss.

So this morning, I called Viridian at 800 990-9390, and they are really helpful. There was no phone maze, also a nice surprise.
Anyway, Lady Viridian (I believe Jennifer was her name) says the laser turning itself off is most likely the battery momentarily losing contact with the door when i shoot. In thinking about the physics of the situation, I could see that happening as the recoil and subsequent rebound pulses are sudden and intense.

If the drifting aimpoint problem is because of the Glock's plastic frame, then I am hosed. Just to be sure, Lady Viridian sent me a UPS return shipping label via email and asked me to return the sight to them; she said they will probably replace it just to be on the safe side, but that they had almost no problems with their Glock lasers.

I will update as things change.

I disassembled the laser clamped onto my PS90 and lengthened the battery wires. Then I removed the battery bar things.

I soldered the batteries to the wires with a Hakko 636 iron. Completely hardwired so my battery contact problems went away. I have to get the iron out to swap batteries, but they last 3-5 years anyway.

I stuffed foam in to take up the space that used to be the battery spring and bar thing.

Glock deos make a laser/light combo that mounts on the Glocks nose. So hopefully I'm wrong about frame flex problems. But Glocks do flex alot in slow-mo films.
