Hey all just got a Sparc and i seem to be having an issue with it. I just turned it on and the red dot does not look crisp at all, it looks like a bunch of tiny dots close together. Has anyone else experience this? Will it go away?

Two possibilities

(1)The Sparc is messed up

(2)You have Astigmatism is my bet

If number 2 regardless of the make and model of a red dot ( aimpoint, Eo, whatever) the dot will not look like you think it should. Some experience a daisy or a clover leaf with astigmatism.

i am pretty sure it is not astigmatism, never showed up on eye exam and when i looked through my friend's acog i could see a solid triangle.

Easy way to find out if it's your eyes. Take a look through the optic with both eyes and ask your friend (or friends) to do the same. Chances are that if you and your friend(s) notice differences in the way the dot looks with both eyes, it's probably your eyes. I've read about people complaining that they see a constellation through their red dot optics only to find out that they needed corrective lenses for their eyes.

ok i spoke to Vortex and they game me a few instructions to see if it was the scope or me.

1. Look at the dot with one eye then the other, does it change shape?

No

2. turn over the scope while looking at it, does the image look upside down or the same? I could see the little dots moving in relation to each other.

Then for some reason i focused my eyes out to infinity instead of the dot and walla it shaped itself into a fine little red dot of 2 MOA.

Vortex said they used a small cluster of filaments or of dots to make up the red dot and i guess that's what i was seeing.

The little dots did not look distorted or like grapes but like a fine slightly oval formation with a distinct border, they looked very defined. Which is why i didn't think it was me. Little did i know that it was actually me focusing on the wrong thing, but hey this is my first red dot so live and learn

Either way i am deff going in for an eye exam this week.

Good deal so your eyes are good enough to see individual elements!! I remember a time long long ago........alas no more

Something I've noticed with red dots is that you really need to go out where you can get 20yds or more to evaluate the dot. In my basement they all look lousy.
