Any Vortex Viper PST owners out there? I’m looking at a 1-4 power for an AR type rifle. From what I’ve read, ranging is w/ scope set at 4x. I’m really curious as to how accurate the reticle is when set to 4x. Does it read true?

Thanks!

I got the PST 1-4 MOA and mounted it to my PSA M4A1 on a Burris QD PEPR mount. The glass is very clear and overall construction is of high quality...haven't been to the range yet but will post pics and review soon. I was able to get one from Liberty optics who gives a 10% discount to THR members which brings it down to 450.00.

Go to M4Carbines forums and type it in the search bar...there are numerous great reviews on this scope. Good luck!

I’ve got a Viper 1-4X HS on my DSA SA58 Para FAL in Larue QD mounts; so far I’m pretty impressed with the scope.

I haven’t done any accuracy testing per se to test the graduations, but I’ve been using the MOA marks to transition from 200-400 yards and it seems pretty accurate based on drop charts.

I have one on my Noveke AR-15 and love it. Holds zero. Clear glass. The illumination is good enough for me (soem people complain about it not being bright enough). I'm a fan!

Have you tried scaling known sized targets to check the reticle? Thanks!

If you don’t get an answer by tomorrow I’ll drag mine out deer hunting in the am. I’ve got a couple of 2/3rds IDPA steel plates set up at 200, 300, and 400 and I’ll take some measurements.

Like I said, shooting wise the graduations seem pretty close to the actual holdover required based on ballistic calculations.

MtnCreek,

Filled my Doe tag last night, hung her in the barn and went back out this morning to take her to the locker. Did some subtense while I was out there.

Targets were 2/3rds IDPA silhouettes at 200Y and 300Y (Approx) and an 8” circle plate at 200. The IDPA silhouettes measure 19.5”H and 11.7” W.
At 200 the 8” circle was just shy of 4 MOA or 2 graduations on the Viper HS, just about where it should be. The Silhouette was just shy of 10MOA or 5 graduations high, and just shy of 3 graduations wide.

At 300, the silhouette was about 6MOA or 3 graduations high and about 4MOA or 2 graduations wide.

Please keep in mind, this is my private range so the ranges are approximate based on my bench location and my berms. I’ve used Google Earth and a GPS to range everything, so they are close, but not exact. From what I can see the graduations at 4X seem to be about spot on.

You're welcome!

I'm seriously impressed with this scope. It's the only non-Swarovski/Leupold I own, and the glass is very good, it's solidly built, and tracks well so far. I've read some negative reports on the illumination brightness, but mine is plenty bright.
