VT / AK Style Carry - Long Guns????

Just had a question about VT and AK style carry. Under this type of carry, is one able to carry longguns concealed and openly around? If not why? If so.....is it done? Would YOU DO IT? This interests me. I like the idea of being able to carry a long gun. Esp if there was some national crises about.

Also, under VT / AK style gun laws, are you required to tell the cops you are carrying? How about if they ask you??? What law says you must answer the cops?

In AK you can carry anything openly or concealed...

If concealed you must notify a police officer if you have contact with him/her that you are carrying

O.K. in Indiana. Have only done it when going to range, hunting or gunshow.

Why would you need to tell them you are carrying, what would the charge be for not doing so? Pleading the 5th?
