vz 58 upper handguard replacement

Hello all,
I am new to the site and will start off with a dumb question.
How is the upper handguard supposed to be removed from the metal cylinder cover on a vz 58?! I am trying to change the original furniture to the Mako stuff. Thanks.

Rotate it off. It will rotate off the metal cover, just twist.

Good choice in a new rifle!

Thanks, that's what I thought. But...do those two metal tabs preventing it from twisting need to be bent out first? That's the only way it appears it will work!
