Looked at a used Sig P228 today, gun is made in West Germany and is in good to very good condition. Doesn't appear to have been shot much.

Comes with two .40S&W hicap mags and 4 MecGar 10 round magazines.

Asking price is $499 plus tax.

So what do you think? There is no dicker room, the price is the price.

IMHO, if a SIG is what you want, the West German versions are the ones worth getting...the price seems fair, I'd get it ;)

Um, yeah, I think so ... 500 smackers would be at the upper end of what I'd pay if there was not a lot of finish wear but the pistol was in pretty good shape. (I picked up a LNIB 226 for 500 that didn't even appear to have seen a full box of ammo through it).

By the way, I've been looking for another 228 ... Where in WA?

You stated that the 228 came with a couple of 40S & W magazines. The proper caliber for a 228 is 9mm. You might want to recheck those magazines. My 40 cal magazines bind up in my 228. They are mecgar. They are a little bit too wide when loaded.

Yes, two of the magazines are indeed for a .40S&W. Guess that i could always sell the .40S&W mags.

That's a good price. I recently sold a 98% 228 w/ 4 13rd factory mags and a leather Bianchi holster for $650 to a friend. Both of use were happy with the transaction.
