WA legislative session, running until 3/10. Today (2/16) in the House Civil Rights & Judiciary hearing we heard some well-constructed and compelling testimony against the mag ban bill.

We need immediate help - To keep the pressure on the committee members. We are asking everyone - whether you testified already or not - to directly call/email the committee members with your opposition. Sending them the same testimony you submitted for the hearing would be acceptable. This should be a quick action, but we need lots of volume.

The House Civil Rights & Judiciary committee members are:

** REMEMBER CONTARY TO THE RUMORS GOING AROUND WASHINGTON HAS NOT PASSED ANY MAG BAN AS OF YET.
THERE IS STILL TIME TO BE HEARD, ACT, AND SPREAD THE WORD.
LETS FLOOD THEM WITH EMAILS AND CALLS.
PUT THE PRESSURE ON AND TELL THEM THIS PROPOSED LEGISLATION WOULD MAKE CRIMINALS OF MANY LAW ABIDING VOTERS.
STOP THE COMPLAINING AND CALL / EMAIL / TESTIFY**

ONCE THESE LAWS ARE PASSED THAT RIGHT IS GONE FOREVER. A PHONE CALL AND OR AN EMAIL IS NOT MUCH TO ASK IN HOPES TO STOP THIS BILL FROM PASSING AND BECOMING LAW!!!

Reach out to Senator Waggoner who attempted to introduce amendments trying to blunt ESSB 5078 and ask how to help stop it. He should have ideas about what will and won't work in Washington State. https://app.leg.wa.gov/pbc/memberEmail/39/0

Emails and calls to the Legislators are great, but it only takes a few minutes to mail the same note saying, "As a Washington voter I am opposed to ESSB 5078 and I expect you to oppose this legislation as well."

As with all contact with Legislators and Staff, we must be civil and brief in sending a clear message, "As a Washington voter I am opposed to ESSB 5078 and I expect you to oppose this legislation as well.". We do not have the luxury of attacking them in spite of their attack on our rights. It may be tempting to rant or threaten, but it achieves nothing in getting your position heard.

Here is the listing for the WA House Civil Rights & Judiciary Committee where this bill heads next. https://leg.wa.gov/House/Committees/CRJ/Pages/MembersStaff.aspx

Looks like this bill will become law as it passed both senate and house. Governor says he'll sign it.

So now I have to get the details straight. Apparently I can keep my >10 rd. magazines, carry them and use them. I just can't sell them to anyone but a dealer in this state. What I'm not clear about is selling them to someone not in this state using an auction site. Maybe someone with some legal training can decode this mess.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 4. A new section is added to chapter 9.41 RCW to read as follows:9 10 Distributing, selling, offering for sale, or facilitating the 11 sale, distribution, or transfer of a large capacity magazine online 12 is an unfair or deceptive act or practice or unfair method of 13 competition in the conduct of trade or commerce for purposes of the consumer protection act, chapter 19.86 RCW.

Whether or not you can continue to carry them is a gray area. Transporting them requires that they are empty and in a locked container. Also the idea that you have to have photographic evidence of ownership prior to the ban is a cute detail.

Read the bill.
