Hey folks,

I have a question for yall.

I love to go up into the mountains to shoot. And when I do, I usually bring a lot of handguns...rifles...and shotguns. But here's my dilemma:

I usually carry my trusted and true H&K USP on my right hip in a Kramer belt scabbard. But now I am looking for an "easily accessible" shoulder rig to carry my Kimber Eclipse Custom II. (In 10mm, of course).

OK, here's the deal. While I am carrying my H&K on my right hip, I do not want anything else on my right side...which leaves my left side. (It's a balance thing). But on the front left side of my belt I usually carry two double magazine holders. (A double mag holder for my H&K mags, and a double magazine holder for my Kimber Eclipse 1911 mags).

So this only leaves me one option...a shoulder rig, hence this post.

What do yall think of the DeSantis S.A.S Shoulder Rig w/Half Strap? (Click link to see their site).

I am aware that there are other, really nice, leather rigs out there...but this one has caught my attention for a few reasons.

1) I originally wanted a "horizontal carry" rig. But after some thought, I am NOT gonna carry the weapon concealed. It is ONLY for the times we go shooting up into the mountains. And on top of that, in order to carry it in the horizontal position and not lose/drop it, you need to have the strap in place.

Blah!

I don't want to be fastening and unfastening a strap over the hammer. I just want to grab it and shoot when I feel like it. (Once again, it's only for the times when we go into the mountains to shoot).

2) I know it looks bulky...but who cares? It is NOT for concealed carry. And it looks like it is solid and would give excellent stability when walking around out there. On top of that, because it is in the vertical position, I do not have to worry about losing it while "doing my thing" out there.

3) I am looking at the way it is built and designed, and it looks very sturdy. I love the way it is solid and fastens securly to your belt so it does not "flop around" when you are grabbing for your weapon to pull it out.

4) I know it is not solid leather. (From what I gathered in it's description). But like I said, it's ONLY for when I go up into the mountains to play.

5) There is also a version that has a double magazine pouch. But I do not need this, as I will be carrying the pouches on my front left waistband...like I mentioned earlier.

6) And lastly, for the price, it's a pretty good deal. (I found one for $50.00).

So here's my question: What do yall think of it?

Does anyone have one who is willing to share their experience with it?

I'd appreciate any info/feedback on it that may shed some new "insights" into it that I have not considered yet.

So as of right now, this is what I have my sights set on. And this is what I will probably order on Monday. (Unless I hear something UNfavorable about it that I had not realized).

Thanks again, folks.

Well folks,

since no one had anything "BAD" to say about it (no news is good news)...I took the plunge and picked one up for $50.00.

At that price, "Hey...what have I got to lose"?

When it arrives I'll post my thoughts on it...if anyone responds to this post.

If no one responds, I'll take it that no one is really interested, and I'll consider this post dead. (I guess I just psycho-babbled to myself).
