Last week I went to the local gun store and ordered a Springfield Armory Mil-Spec (Ive always wanted one) When I stopped in to ask about it yesterday they told me that none of their distributors have them.

I checked the SA website and the site that they sell\distribute through has the Mil-Specs are listed as "allocated" and says that the demand exceeds the supply.

Has anyone else ever had this problem? If so, how long did it take before you got your order in?

4 months...yikes,:uhoh: I wonder if they'll let my change my mind and get one of the kimbers they have in stock. I've wanted a 1911 for about 10 years, im not that patient at this point:p

While you are waiting, check out the Taurus PT1911. My son has a Mil Spec that I have thoroughly enjoyed shooting. Last week we did some 1911 shooting and the old man and his Taurus were definitely better than the kid and his Mil Spec. After a couple hundred rounds from each, he was muttering something about trigger jobs.

For the price of a Kimber, you could get two pretty good 1911's.

I would consider a loaded, but they only have one chrome one in stock. And I'm not a big fan of chrome. When I was looking at 1911's i had a real hard time choosing between the Mil-Spec and the Custom II. Now that I'm looking at a 4 or 5 month wait that Custom II is looking really good.

I did get bored and bought a Kahr, and put a Glock on layaway while waiting. I figure the Springfield will hit right around tax return time. On the other hand, was at a gun show today and ran across two EMPs, but the money was already spent. Helps to have that regular dealer that will keep an eye out for you while you blow the money on other guns.

i would go lok other places i see about all the guns that i wat pretty soon after i get the want for one. i just shop around for price of course, and of course ome places don't have it but i rearely have that problem. the only problem i had finding a sa pistol was the mc operator, i wanted one forever and never actualy saw one in the store. well when i was on rxr there one was in the local gun shop. so of course i snagged it up.

Wow!

Yes, not many carry them. I bought my stainless Mil-Spec a couple of days ago at a ranch-home-auto store in my neck of the woods. Large selection. More so than the local small shops. Nobody else had it. It seems like the small shops sell Kimbers of XD's or Glocks. Got mine as a kit with extra magazine, holster, magazine holster, and wood grips.

You may want to check out those ranch-home-auto kind of stores.

Good luck.

After a little consideration, since i've already paid for and ordered the mil-spec i think i'll just wait on it to come in but pick up a makarov to keep me entertained until it comes in.

I emailed Springfield asking why the Mil-Specs are so scarce, I'll see what they say when they come in on monday.
