Waiting on my "new" Star BM

Unfortunately ran into a problem when I tried reassembling it after feild stripping it. The stop pin assembly wouldn't go back in, noticed it was bent so emailed J&G. About 15 minutes ago Mike from J&G called me, we figured out there is something definitely wrong with my gun. They're closing right now so tomorrow Mike will fax me a shipping label, I'll drop it off to be shipped and when he receives it he'll send me another that he hand selects. He said that he thinks there is only 5 left out of the 35,000 they picked up 3 years ago.

I hope they don’t send me your return

Mine was ordered Saturday night, shipped Monday and got the tracking number that night (yesterday) shipped 2nd Day UPS Air will be at FFL tomorrow, Wednesday.

I doubt it. They did say they found some that had problems like bent frames, etc. Those were stripped and used for parts to be sold. It's also possible with so few left they don't have any more and your order didn't make it in in time. Dunno.

Welp I know what my boy will get for Christmas. A used not so shiny star bm. He has a couple 22 no center fire yet. So this papa is gonna change that.

One of mine is really difficult to re-install the recoil spring and guide. I never checked to see if it was bent I thought the spring was maybe more powerful than the rest. Fingers get skinned with it.

That's very unusual and extremely cool!!

Thanks,
I purchased it a largish firearms auction (~300 total) of which there were 10 of the Star pistols which for some reason caught my eye on the list. I have to admit that until reading this thread I didn't realize that removal of the stamps was the norm. I'm assuming now those Star's must have come from a collector that looked for the non-removed marks because, while not all of the ten had marks, none of them had any evidence of removal.

I kind of wish I had known then, although I maybe it was for the best that I didn't.

Among the others on that sale were marked:
Star Model S .380 - Marked - Spanish Air Force
Star Model BM 9 - Marked - Civil Guard Ministry of the Interior
Star Model S .380 - Marked - National City Urban Police
Star Model S .380 - Marked - Policia Armada

The recoil spring and piston on the one I received was loose, I had to hold the slide and lower upside down to keep it from dropping out when putting the gun back together.

Sounds like they made a good "hand select" for your replacement.
Yeah the tech I was talking with said he had one on his desk they used to help troubleshoot reported issues with their guns and that he was probably going to send me that one as there were only five other Star BMs left in stock.

The must have more than 5 because I bought one after you and they still show in stock

I have some Glow-On florescent paint I'll put on the front sight. Make it much easier for these aging eyes to get a good sight picture.
