Waiting Time for Suppressor Approval?

They changed procedures. They previously would stop the whole processing queue if an NCIS check was taking a while, they've since allowed those that had fast approvals to move up in line. The local shop has had a dozen approvals that were less than a week, one yesterday was for a guy who paid on Monday!

my second suppressor was approved today. Submitted on 1/8. It took just over eight weeks. My first one took over 8 months. I’m still waiting for approval on a third can. Unfortunately, no batch approval for me.

Woo Hoo!!!!
eForm 4 Individual
Submitted 3/02/23
Approved 3/14/24

On a sad note, I had a customers stamp approved in December 2022. Customer was out of town and said he would pick it up when he returned. I sent several reminder emails with responses of "I'll be by soon" in 2023. I forgot about that can until last month. I sent another reminder, then decided to call him. Phone# out of service.

So I Googled his name and discovered he passed away last October. A great guy with three young daughters.

This as a warning to all of you.....make sure your loved ones know where to find your will, living trust, list of firearms, your current and pending ATF Form 1's and 4's, etc. For those who filed their NFA Forms as an Individual, a copy of a Form 5 and instructions to the executor. Your beneficiaries would probably like to know what guns are family heirlooms and which ones you bought at a garage sale.

I am at the 1 year mark on some of mine & still nothing. Unreal
Wow.

What I’m about to say goes against stoic manliness & will make you seem ignorant to your peers- send the agencies and your congressman an email.

I emailed my congressman and he contacted both the atf and fbi on my behalf. Within days I had an approval and I had been waiting 8 months.

More recently, for my second & third suppressors, I myself sent the atf an email. This resulted in an approval for one and word I was in a delay status for the other. This is after waiting 8 and 3 weeks, respectively.

Was in the GS today (can't call it a LGS 'cause it's 30ish miles away...?) that I do most of my firearm/Form4 bidness with.
In less than 1/2 hour, 2 peeps came in to pick up eForm 4 suppressors------------submitted on MAR 5...........................!!!!!
They were saying that they have had about 15, or so, of those come back that quick....
If this trend holds fast, prolly gonna have to deal with alot of OOS from the manufacturers............................:scrutiny:
These folks are pretty suave as they have a substantial inventory of quite a few brands/types of cans ....

third and final approval received today. I waited 4 weeks. It’s the one I’ve been most excited about- a 22 suppressor from otter creek labs called the titanium because it’s made from it. It should be very light. Im going to host it on a Christensen arms ranger for an über light plinker.

Wow! Have you had them longer than this one. That’s ridiculous.
This buyer has always experienced long processing times. Previously he used a traditional gun trust with as many as eight members. At least two of those members could not get a proceed and the Form 4 was Disapproved for "unable to resolve FBI background check". He kept resubmitting dropping certain members from the trust until it was approved. On this purchase I recommended he try the Single Shot Trust with just his name and it still took 650 days.

I have eight where the buyer never submitted a Form 4, abandon it or is deceased.
I have four where the buyers were denied and supposedly will resubmit.

More 2022 wooohoooo!
eForm 4 Individual certified & submitted 7/15/2022
Approved 4/19/2024

And the best part? This customer bought two silencers on the same day, certified both on the same day. One was approved in April 2023, the other a year later.

🤬

That would drive me crazy if that happened to me. A private company would be out of business if they did that.

And that's why .Gov does it. Because they can. There is no competition.

I deal with this regularly; having to get permission from some governmental entity to perform a business activity. The clerical workers routinely force us supplicants to wait on their timetable, or jump through some other hoop, seemingly just because they can.

And they cannot be fired, even for intentional incompetence.

It drives me insane.

Silencer Shop says to 8 months, with 179 days average.:fire::fire::fire:
I was hoping to have it for deer season this year. With only a month left, I'm not holding my breath that I have it by then.:cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss:

Today is the 15 month mark from when this eform 4 was submitted. I just got off the phone with the ATF. It was finally approved Monday, April 22. 3 days short of 15 months.

Mixed emotions like many have. Happy as can be. Ready to party. But still mad as all get out about the process.
