Walker ... again

Bonesaw just posted this picture of his new Walker kit gun
on thefiringline ($265 from Dixie Gun Works). It could
probably be given a similar high polished steel finish too!

What I don't like are the clear varnished grips on my Uberties. They are slippery, too. I'm thinking about purchasing a semifinished grips and than give them some oiled finish or fake ivory grips. Hmmmm, will see ... Oh yes ... and I will put silver plating on that ugly brass triger guards, too

Just sand the finish off of the grips. Then you can give them whatever finish you like. I just rub the oil or grease I am using into mine every time I clean or load it.

Icy, silver plating tarnishes quickly around black powder. Cleaning off the tarnish soon removes the silver plates. I learned that lesson the hard way!

Nickel electroplating is very slick & durable on my Traditions rifle, it shouldn't rust either.

To Dixie:
was thinking about sanding off the clear coating, but I don't know how deep was that stuff soaked in the wood. Do not want uneven finish!

You are right. I have a big silver ankh with me every time on my bike. And yes she tarnished quickly.
