Hello,

I have a ASM and a Uberti Walker and both have deeply grooved barrels. The ASM is 30 years old and slow twist but the Uberti is 2005 and fast twist. Both had cylinder bores smaller than barrel .

I have reamed the cylinder of the ASM with a 11.5mm ( 0.4528) reamer and thus greatly improved accuracy with 456 balls; however due to the slow twist I can only shoot balls.

After observing the improvement on the ASM Walker, I did the same on the Uberti and now I can shoot heavy bullets : ROA cap§ball Lee bullets or 45Colt Lee 255gr.

As for the ROA bullets they are sometimes difficult to ream into the cylinder chambers and testing is ongoing. As for 45Colt Lee 255gr. bullets , they are easily ramed (I opened the frame window) and stay in place when shooting 30gr BP ; however maybe they will move with higher charges........

here is the result, with rest at 25m :

Testing is ongoing and I will keep you posted !

Regards

Good work!

Nice Shooting!

I'm looing forward to trying 180-255 Grain Bullets in my Dragoon...brooding on how they will get Loaded though...we'll see...

I Vernier Dial Calliper measured the Cylinder Bores, and, Barrel, but I forgot the readings...need to do it again...

Later-in-the-day P.S.

I'd like to get or make a Loading Stand.

The Wedge on my Dragoon is very easy to disingauge for pulling the Barrel out an doff, and removing the Cylinder.

With an extra Cylinder or two, I could easily load, and, also, load Bullets which may be awkward were the Revolver assembled.

Anyway...comes apart and goes together very easy and fast...light taps, I just use a little 1x1x4 inch piece of Cherry Wood as a Wedge Mallet.
