Walker Colt vs Ruger Old Army

One thing to bear in mind is that the metallurgy of the ROA is superior to any original Walker. Rugers can be packed to the top and won't give. Original Walkers were destroyed when the user did that.

If a modern replica is made with modern steels, the Walker with its higher capacity will dwarf the smaller ROA. I believe that the ROA's solid frame will give it longevity over the Walker.

This for real or photoshopped??? Do you own that monster?? Looks like a Judge on steroids.

Sir, I don't know for sure about the photosoppin' but I can assure you that I don't own such a tablecloth :D.
I think the pattern would make it more difficult to fake actually.

The story I remember is about a store making a limited run as a publicity stunt.
That's what I wrote in 2008 on an other board:

The pics appeared on a couple of European boards; it was apparently a custom job by FMR in France circa 1993-1996 (some articles in local gun mags were dug up by members). This explains why we didn't hear about it here.

Powder load was 6 (or 8 !?) grams ... (92 or 123gr...).

I wonder how the round balls did with such a load.... the gun is pretty much an all or nothing purpose. I would have stayed with the Walker's cylinder length; but then it wouldn't have been the most powerful (black powder) revolver in the world .

I like the Walker Colt because it's got more historical significance than the Ruger gun. Also, as others have said, the Walker has a larger powder chamber that can accept up to 60 grains of powder.

I need a Walker due to it's historical significance as it's the gun that brought Colt back from the dead, as well as being the weapon that really helped Texas. It's massive size and small rifle charge certainly also make it unique, and I can only imagine the heads turning when lighting that thing off! I usually get a person or two asking questions when shooting my Ruger. I'd bet there'd be a line with a Walker!

howdy amigos! I just found your ROA club today, but am still shooting the one I got for Christmas, 1974, I'm so glad to see I'm not the only addict, and I'm glad this ain't a 12 step program, cause I never want to be cured lol. I've done a lot of surfing, looking for a replacement barell, and cylinder, anyone have some words of wisdom for me?
