As a shooter and reloader I have a lot of stuff not just including firearms. While I have a man cave and walk in gun vault I have a lot of clutter which takes up floor space. Some of my long guns I had stored on shelves and standing in a convenient corners. I decided to address this problem this week.

Floor space is a premium so I look to go up. In this case a 5" section of concrete basement wall. Notice the M.N. 91/30 standing in the corner. I'll address that later.

Next step was to measure, cut and predrill holes in the 2x4's to frame a 4' x 4' piece of pegboard. Framing in progress using Tapper screws:

With framing complete I attached the pegboard using 1" flat head sheet metal screws;

Did you notice that the M.N. 91/30 now rests on the pegboard at the top. It looks lonely so I will correct that problem;

This project cleared my long guns that I had on shelving and standing in the corner. Phase 2 will be building free standing shelves below the pegboard once I figure out exactly what I want to store there.

I used 1/4" thick pegboard and 4" pegboard hooks to set the guns on. I have covered the hooks with clear tubing to prevent any damage to the guns from rubbing on them.

You may notice the rubber bands on the Saiga Sporter and the revolver. We are having small earthquakes from oil fracking. So far we have not had any damage. I plan on using rubber bands to hold the guns to the hooks as a security measure on all of the guns.

I was inspired by the movie "Tremors." However I am concerned my firepower is on the light side. I may have to move my gun safe that my other long guns are in closer to the pegboard wall.

Good work. I have a couple free standing racks in the basement. Each holds about 16. I like the wall mount. It displays them nicely.

Nice set-up. I was thinking of doing something similar in the new house, but instead of pegboard I'm thinking 3/4" plywood and lots of those racks for the back window of pickup trucks. They're cheap and sturdy and some of my long guns are pretty heavy (long range rifles and the like)
