Wall Street Journal: Zero Tolerance Watch

Are there exceptions written into the law for the cafeteria? I figure the cooks still need to reduce some food to bite size pieces, so I wonder if they commit a felony every day.

Zero tolerance. I understand the sentiment at schools. Look at the recent shooting of the assistant principal in Tennessee. But this kid was making threats around the school as I heard the story told. Butter knife? White powder in a vial? aspirin? I think like most things, once things start getting restricted, there is no end to it. Then you have the stupid kid like in Tenneessee who brings a gun to school to USE. I don't know what the solution is. When I was a kid, I carried a small pocket knife all the time (school etc.). That wouldn't fly now. Never even considered using it as a weapon. What has changed?
