Maybe I just didn't see them, or maybe they don't carry them, but does your Walmart carry reloading components? If they don't currently, did they carry them in the past?

If they have never done so, anyone interested in writing letters to try and get them to?

No, I've never encountered any Wal-Mart anywhere that had any components.

It's not likely that they ever will, either. Fact is, I'm positive that they never will.

Yup! Wally World Has Reloading Components!
They carry unfired brass and unfired Winchester AA and Remington Premier hulls.
I purchased lots of 9mm when it was still ~$12.50 per 100. It was cheaper than buying 100 unprimed brass across the street at Cabelas.

Of course, there is some prep-work involved in using Wally World components: First, you must load them up and shoot them. Then, with a little case prep, you are ready for reloading! :D

Oh, ya could try this place instead of Wally World...They are great to deal with, ship promptly, competitively priced, and are in Valentine, NE!

Mine does but they are very limited. The bullets they carry are all fairly expensive. I don't buy reloading supplies from Wally.

Depends. We have two Supercenters here in town. The southside one carries shotgun components and MEC presses, 12 and 20 ga only, and a few primers, if you don't mind buying primers by the hundred.

The northside Wal-Mart doesn't carry any components.

I understand its a management decision. They carry what sells (makes sense to me).

sorry,nitesite,but ur wrong

My wally has presses, kits, scales, powder, primers, some brass, some jacketed bullets.Prices are fine, powder selection is mostly rifle types, but they do carry Unique.:)

Sorry my last post might have been a little misleading. When I said their bullets were expensive I meand that they carry Hornady and other top name brands, they don't carry Berry's or other reasonable priced bullets. The only pistol powder they carry is Unique, which I guess is good since Unique will cover most pistol calibers. As far as presses and dies I only remember seeing RCBS. The primers didn't seem to be priced to bad. I buy cleaning supplies and other small stuff but as far as components, I buy those on the web.

Sheesh, I'm wrong again.

I hope my wife doesn't read this thread.:uhoh:

Thanks for educating me fellas! I've been in Wal-Marts in probably two dozen states and never encountered one that carried components.

Don't feel bad Nitesite. Wally world carries all sporting equipment depending on size of store, market, demand, manager's decisions, etc. You can go for years without seeing one that sells the stuff. Or you could be suprised shopping in one, because it didn't. Goes state by state as well.

Regards,

Dave

"...does your Walmart carry reloading components? If they don't currently, did they carry them in the past?"

The Hendersonville, NC, store carried a limited line of components and tools several years ago. They didn't sell well so they were eliminated within a year or so.

The sporting goods floor manager got permission from the store manager to give it a try, sad that it didn't work but ... There were/are enough loaders in the area to make it work but they were loyal to the local dealers. Guess that's not bad.

I have seen one Walmart out of 6-7 that had components. Very limited selection and relatively high prices on them to boot.

The Wal-Marts here in Oregon that I've been to have have not had reloading supplies, for all the years I've been going there. I assumed no Wal-Mart did until we were visiting the in-laws on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state. They have a pretty good selection there and decent prices too (compared to the local gun shop).

Here in Oregon we have Bi-Mart, a very small store compared to Wal-Mart, but for long guns, ammunition, reloading supplies and such they are hard to beat. Employee owned too, that's a plus to me. I'm not really a hard-core Wal-Mart hater, but it's not my favorite store for a couple reasons.

I'm from WM's home area and yes they did carry reloading many years ago...after stupid people blew off various parts of their anatomy, WM quit carrying the stuff...the WM philosophy is to pay for dumb help and not encourage shootin the breeze with the customers and we all know that reloading requires a clerk who actually knows something...it is at odds with WM practices and I've seen first hand the results of the old Lee Loader (mallet type) and a kid sending his mom to pick up "rifle" powder...a dipped case full of 2400 (used to say rifle powder right on the can) in .270...fused the case head to the bolt face like a coin.

The walmart where I live has a pretty good selection of reloading components. Not a lot of variety, but they carry some of the more popular powders, have hornady and nozler bullets in most calibers, couple of press kits and tumblers, and even some reloading manuals. I don't buy many components there, but it is nice to be able to buy a couple thousand primers when it's late at night and you run out. All in all, they probably have a better selection than some of the local gun shops carry.

When I visited my cousin in Alaska, I was surprised to find reloading supplies in the wally world stores. Not only that, but they had handguns too!!!

In the great state of Massachusetts they stopped selling rifles and shotguns. I also heard rumor that they had plans to not sell ammo as well. I need to move to New Hampshire. Live Free or Die!

one of the WM stories I know of:

Working in a gun shop back in the 70's a guy came in asking about black powder supplies. During our conversation he mentioned that WM carried black powder. We were supprised so after he left we called and asked the woman who was in sporting goods about black powder. Yes she said, we have it. Asked if she would describe the can...black and 700X written on it...but the can is black!

I would have to agree with that except I find their bullets a little on the high side.

man you guys that live near walmarts that sell primers and powder are lucky. wish the ones around here did. as it is i have to drive 25 miles to get them from my "local" reloading supply shop. walmart is less than a mile away.

i have never seen reloading supplies at any of the ones i have worked at or shoped at, but stores vary from wht they carry and what they don't carry.
