Dakotisin, Thanks for the link. I did my own little amateur trigger job last night, thanks to their instructions. Actually, the process of adjusting my Walmart Model 70 was even simpler than described. Once you remove the barreled action, you've exposed a screw with three nuts. It's easy to adjust the nuts with a quarter inch points wrench to reduce the travel and lighten the pull.

Took it to the range today, as a matter of fact. It now has a much lighter trigger pull. I also tried free floating the barrel by sanding out the fore end of the synthetic stock. But it's still not shooting so hot. I'm all over the paper. I'm sure the barrel isn't broken in yet, and I got impatient today and didn't clean the bore thoroughly between groups.

Check your scope mounts.

Mine was doing the same thing. When I first got it, it would shoot great. Then it wouldn't hold a zero. Then it started shooting all over the place to the point I couldn't even hit the paper. I noticed that my scope had a tiny amount of play. I couldn't see it move but I felt it. I took the scope and mounts off and remounted it using lock-tite. Funny thing, when I tested it the rifle shot only an inch right of the bull's eye. I almost ran out and bought a lotto ticket.

Also check the torque on your stock mounting screws.
